A Day at Warped Tour - Nubblies.net Forums

My day started at roughly 8 o clock where my friends and I left my house to meet more friends at the Marsh parking lot. From there we were on our way, I have to say the ride going to any big event is always great, everyone in the car was so excited and in such good moods... Nothing could bring us down.

When we showed up we stood in line for about 20-25 minutes before we got inside the complex, which was fine with me seeing that last year my friends waited over an hour and a half. Once we got in I was suprised that there was more floor space for booths and vendors than there was for the actual stages and seating (standing really).

My friends and I walked around for about 2 hours before the first band played. I met a very interesting amount of people there just walking around. A chick with a green mohawk, a 50 year old man wearing a Dropkick Murpheys shirt, Rick Thorne (a pro BMXer), and even a porn star. So far so good...

From then on every 30 minutes or so a new band would bless the main stages located near the front. First up was The Used, who are good, and great live, a trend I noticed throughout the day.

After that there were a lot of bands that played but only three that were worth writing anything about (seeing that you won't know who any of the bands I saw

wow, alpha, were you at the same Warped Tour as me? I happen to recall this as, by far, the weakest line-up I've ever seen.
Highlights (in order of importance):

Rancid- Mest got a little pissy cause their crowd was migrating toward the other stage to see the best band there.
They were filming for an upcoming Troma picture and I was front and center at the rail.

Dropkick Murphys- myself and three other guys were solely responsible for getting a little, skinny 14 y/o boy all the way to the rail to see what he called "the raddest band". I like to think that we made his day and possibly changed his life.

I caught a foot to the face from one of the many people crowd-surfing... this, at first, pissed me off. I, then, realized that a profusely bleeding nose has many good aspects when in such close quarters.

Running into a lot of people I haven't seen for a couple years or more.

meeting many new, interesting people... my favorite was the pretty little chick I met at the epitaph booth who was sporting the 'Fuck AFI' shirt... beautiful.

Andrew W.K.- believe it or not. I don't care for his music and I thought I'd hate watching him... but it was fucking hilarious.

there was more good stuff but I'm out of motivation to write about it.

Yes indeed, AWK puts on a good show for the worst band possible there. He also stayed at his booth doing signings for over six hours while there was a line stretching all the way back outside of the tent/pavillion thingy. There were some great bands that played, AFI, The Used, Thrice, Rancid, Poison the Well, Tsunami Bomb, and Rise Against. I had a great time.

I'd like to hear how Thrice and Poison The Well performed. They were the two bands that stuck out of the line-up for me when I heard that they were playing.

I had it in my original post that got fucked up, but Thrice was simply amazing, I have not seen a band have that great of a live show ever. Teppei the guitarist is also the nicest man I have ever met in my life. Long live the almighty Thrice, if you've never heard them download some of them. I recommend the songs "Deadbolt", "See You in the Shallows", or my personal favorite "To Awake and Avenge the Dead".
By the way Chuck, Poison the Well was great. Though it was very disturbing that a slipknot fan and I were squished together and he loved them as much as me... Oh well, whatever floats your boat.

I wasn't impressed by Thrice at all. this was my first time seeing them live and have heard good things. Unfortunately, much like their music, it was overrated.

I don't like Poison the Well at all, so I didn't waste my time watching them.

In my opinion, Thrice was awesome, and as StabMaster said, I wouldn't waste my time watching Poison The Well. Thrice is overrated at times, but not nearly as bad as Poison the Well. If you really like the whole "metalcore" genre, there are many better (well compared to Poison the Well they are..) bands just like PTW out there.

But what do i know? My head is probably lodged to far up my ass to think correctly.

I was going to shows a hundred times better than this when you were still shitting your pants... where were you in '93 when I first saw and hung out with Tim and Lars from Rancid? where were you in '95 when I had coffee before a show with Milo Aukerman from the Decendents? have you ever seen the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, or the (real) Misfits? you never will either.

No, I didn't see Simple Plan play either... but not because they're not 'punk' enough for me... fuck punk. I've been around this scene long enough to realize that it's easily 90% bullshit. there are way too many pussies playing the 'I'm punker than you game'... like you.

I like what I like, don't like what I don't like and sure as hell don't have to justify anything to a little shit like you.

Personally I thought Warped Tour was pretty good, I liked some of the bands. I personally thought AFI and The Ataris was awesome,though I've seen better, I was just glad to hear some of the bands i liked. I met a bunch of bands, and got alot of free shit,and i hung out with my friends the whole time , so i thought it was fun!

I don't even listen to slipknot or much of any metal at all. I just don't care for The Ataris, I shouldn't have said they suck, but I still don't know why you took so much offense to me saying that I don't like them.
