Alright, I've got the typical teenager romance situation that i need some imput on. Mainly my question is what should I do?
Right now I'm exclusivley dating a girl (we'll call her Girl A) that I've known for three years now. She's a wonderful person and makes me feel happy when I'm with her, and is basically what I'm looking for in a girl. But on the other hand, I had a long relationship with a girl (girl B) that ended in a painful seperation about three or four months ago. I am not willing to let go of the feelings I still have for her, and I fear always will. Girl A is starting to like me a lot... As I am too, but I just can't get Girl B out of my head... To make things worse I haven't seen Girl B in a month and she will be back on the day that Girl A leaves for vacation with her family. I seroiusly feel that I love Girl B, and would do anything to have her back. She told me yesterday that when she gets back she wants to attain what she missed out on... Me. I care for Girl A and don't want to break her heart like i know i would if i developed something with Girl B again... My question is, Is true love worth striving for in this situation or should I accept that I am with Girl A and forget about Girl B? Confusing I know but if anyone could give me some help or some previous experiences that would be so greatly appreciated... No I do realize that this is a perfect opportunity to throw in those "just fuck them both" jokes or whatnot, but if you could actually give me some advice through the humor that would rock. I actually would like to believe some people will take this seriously, though I prob wouldn't. [ June 30, 2003, 11:51 PM: Message edited by: Alpha ] |

I'm not going to tell you what you should do...but I'll give you some insight into your situation.
I see two main ways to look at this. Firstly, right now you're in a situation that you say makes you happy...and is everything that you're looking for...girlwise; however, you go on to say that there's a different situation out there that you'd "do anything" to have back. If you really want to be with B as badly as you let on, then there is no reason for you to stay with Girl A. Neither you nor Girl A will benefit from a relationship that's never free from Girl B looming in the back of your mind... On the other hand... You've already been with Girl B and had it end in a painful separation. You didn't say anything that would lead anyone to believe that the results of a relationship with Girl B would be anything different from the first time...leading me to believe that there's a fair to fairly good chance that such a prospect could leave you tasting your old pain. Of course, you could have learned from your mistakes, you could both be better people, and you could learn to get over whatever came between you 3 or 4 months ago...maybe... In the end, the only element that you need to take into consideration is where you'd rather be. It may sound dickish to say that you shouldn't think about Girl A's feelings...but, unfortunately, the way is sounds is that she's going to end up shat upon no matter which way you go. Either you break up with her to pursue relations with B...or you continue with her only to eventually end it because you can't get over B. Of course, this all assumes that your first description is completely accurate...which it probably isn't. To me, it seems as if you're looking for permission to drop A for B...as that's clearly what you want to do...but you don't want to look selfish in doing so. What you really need to do is diagnose your situation with B and decide if rekindling what you had before is really worth losing what you have. If it is, go for the gold...if not, be content. |

my 2 cents...
stick with girl A. it's very common to forget about the bad aspects of a relationship right after getting out of it. I realize that it may be hard to do, but stay away from girl B as much as possible... don't call her, don't answer her calls, and whatever you do don't see her. by doing this, you assure that if, for some reason, things don't work out with girl A, girl B will want you back even more. And let's be honest, sure there's something to be said about the stability of having someone around for a long haul, but the first stages of a relationship are the most fun. |

Alpha I was in this situation no longer than 2 months ago.
Basically I've been with the same girl off and on for 3 1/2 years now. I started dating someone else at the end of march when the girl I had been previously dating for 3 1/2 years started to like me again. I'll be honest she has my heart like nobody else does and I broke things off with the girl I was dating at the time. It was tough because I cared about her and she's really nice but when you truly love somebody then there's nothing that can come between that. It may end up different for you but I'm very happy right now and I believe that a short relationship with someobdy is no replacement for years of love. Stab brings up very good points, in a long relationship by the latter stages there is a lot more bad than there would be in a beginning relationship. You know each other well enough that small things can tip you off into an arguement. If your with somebody in the beginning you don't fight because all you can do is learn more and more about each other which is exciting for some. For me however, the ups and downs and overall satisfaction of having her in my arms is unmatched by nearly anything in this world. |

Stab is also very correct when he says that if you end choosing Girl A. Stay away from Girl B as much as humanly possible. The old feelings and memories will rush back quicker than a load splooging whilst watching a Jenna Jameson porn.

I am really suprising myself by saying this, but I'm going to stay with Girl A. I realized that I am incredibly lucky because I have two opportunities at a wonderful relationship. Both girls I could see myself dating for the long haul (not marriage, just a long time). But when it comes down to it Girl B lost her chance to be with me when she told me she loved me but just couldn't commit. Girl A has done nothign wrong to me and is sooo sweet. Girl A also would have been very suprised if I would have switched girls on her. I believe I will go with the safety on my penis... Girl A it is! Thank you for replying and helping guide my thoughts, to be honest I didn't expect it. Not what so ever. You learn new things everyday.

Wow.
funny you asked... As of now I have fucked things over with both girls because i'm an impulsive jackass. But Girl A and are are making ammends and progressing towards where we were heading before all this stuff. I do rethank people for the advice, though i did take everyone's advice and fuck it up. I'll make sure to listen to people's advice better and not try to take my own. |
