I'm not putting the tags because of the title. If you clicked here and haven't seen, too fucking bad.
Just managed to catch this last night. Koreans are batshit crazy about booking ahead...by like days. I got lucky. Pretty kickass movie, I'm sure it's cliche by this point to discuss it but oh well. Not as complex as it could have been, but I had a few questions in regard to the plot: How did they "connect" people in shared dreaming? Wouldn't that require a neural interface (a-la-Matrix) rather than just a forearm IV? I wish they would have gone more in-depth to the theorized Army invention they just mentioned in like one scene, seeing as how it's the basis for the entire movie. Is a 4th level dream the same as Limbo? How did Cobb and his Wife get to Limbo the first time, by delving too deep into a dream? When Saito dies, he goes to Limbo....but then Cobb and Ariadne (Juno for all intensive purposes ) are able to get to Limbo by going a 4th level in? That didn't make sense to me. |

I'm sure there will be thesis papers written on this film as it leaves a lot up to interpretation (like they are ALL in Cobb's dream to begin with). And I'm sure Nolan will pull the same bullshit that every director since the beginning of time says "its up to the viewer to interpret the flims meaning" | |

He says specifically "Saito is here, somewhere" at one point in the movie. Also, if he's not already in Limbo, how is he going to get there? Maybe he kills himself to get there, but Juno killed herself by jumping out the building, and she just woke up...which means the sedative must have worn off by then, so how does one get into Limbo without being sedated?
Goes more in line with wondering how in the hell Cobb and his wife got in Limbo the first time around... That being said, I think it'd be pretty fucking badass to lucidly dream for 50 years "dream time". |

Yeah, this is one of the more obvious interpretations, I think it fits well with the movie. The whole movie is Cobbs dream and Ariadne is performing an inception on Cobb to help him get over his wife's death. There was a lot of subtle doubting in the film, whether or not Cobb was actually being pursued back in the States.

I thought Inception sucked. I was never emotionally invested in the movie. Whether or not Leo actually got back to his kids, etc, never mattered to me. When the credits appeared, I got up, threw away my drink, and have hardly thought about the film since.

I thought it was good. I didn't think it was "OMG, so fucking good movie and so deep" like so many people make it out to be.
Things i noticed and would like to look at more hints/clues about the whole is it really Cobb's dream the entire time. -His wedding ring. IIRC, he's ONLY wearing it when he's dreaming. -The totem, IF it was Mal's to begin w/, it doesn't really make a whole lotta sense for him to be using it. -The kids and how they don't age and are wearing the exact same clothes at the end as they were throughout his dreams/memories. Major issue that makes it hard for it to be a dream the entire time. -The subconscious characters never talk. |

She doesn't, but she WAS in the 4th level with him, and it was inferred earlier that you can only get to Limbo when you "go too deep" (apparently the 5th level) and die, and when you can't wake up because of sedatives. That's what happens to Cobb, but not to Adriadne. Therefore, she shouldn't have gone through all the levels "waking up", she should have went to Limbo.

I found this on IMDB, makes a lot of sense (if my memory serves me right):
Sequence: 1. Cobb and Ariadne enter limbo to retrieve Fischer. 2. Saito dies in the fortress and thus enters limbo. 3. Ariadne rides the kick (falling) with Fischer up to the fortress. 4. Cobb follows to the fortress when the building collapses. 5. Ariadne, Cobb, Eames, Fischer ride the kick up to the hotel when the fortress collapes. 6. Ariadne, Cobb, Eames, Fischer and Arthur ride the kick up to the van when the elevator falls down. 7. Eames (as Browning) and Fischer swim out of the van and go ashore. 8. Ariadne, Arthur, and Yusuf take breaths from a tank and go ashore (out of sight of Fischer). 9. Cobb is left in the van and drowns/dies. Thus he returns to limbo, washes up on shore, and is found by Saito's guards. |

We hardly ever disagree. But this time we do. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. And isn't that what a film is for?

![]() The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. ![]() |
