Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

Yeah. It's like that all over the country, but it's really bad in Saigon. I think rather than fix old broken connections, or do the work to consolidate, they just string up new lines every time they go out there.

I do want to be IRL friends, but vacation/time off in general is pretty restrictive out here in most jobs, unfortunately. I'll have some time off around Christmas, but not really any other time off until next July. But if you want to drop by Korea, you have a place to stay for free in Seoul (that goes for any Nubblite -- even Shaw).

Cool man I will try to bring a big bankroll so we can eat some kimchi (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/15/wo...tml?ref=dining). Right now the trip is developing in my mind as a backpacking thing starting and ending in bangkok, but touching laos, cambodia, HCM city, possibly going down to singapore and myanmar as well.

If everything goes as planned, I really want to go through there on my way to India next year. I've heard nothing but good things. The government is fucked, but the people are supposedly nice as can be.

I love pho so fucking much.
Full moon party is a monthly party on one of these thai islands. As far as I can gather it involves a beach, lots of australians and other white tourists, trance music, and mild hallucinagens. I haven't drawn out too much of a gameplan for this trip yet, but I think the bulk will be in Cambodia. |

I enjoyed Cambodia. We stayed in Phnom Penh, the capital, and Siem Reap, which is where the Angkor temples are. Both places have decent scenes for expats and travelers, though nothing like some other Asian destinations. They were colonized by the French, and you can still see the influence in the architecture in some of the nicer areas. Asians drive crazy in general, but Cambodia is especially crazy - there aren't really any stop lights or signs. It's nuts. I recommend just getting a tuk tuk driver to drive you around. Enjoy the pics.
![]() Same structure at night: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cambodia's tragic history is well documented, but here's a taste of what you'll see. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thankfully there's a lot of less depressing stuff to see. ![]() ![]() The Angkor temples are the biggest attraction for most travelers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There are a lot of beggars and they're very aggressive. Most of the time it's a scam, and even when it's not, if anyone sees you give money you'll get swarmed, so be careful. It goes without saying that it's ridiculously hot, and depending on when you go it might rain like mad. Don't let the pics fool you either, while there are nice spots, there's a lot of poverty and dirtiness too. Don't ask anyone about the Khmer Rogue either, it's extremely sensitive. When you go out I recommend buying cans of beer - ask for them to bring them to you unopened, as they will water shit down as much as they can get away with. Other than that just be a smart traveler and enjoy yourself. Cambodia can be a very beautiful place. I still remember how green the countryside looked. Greener than any green I had seen before. |

I'm leaving tomorrow, and couldn't be more stoked. Flying into HCMC and probably going to stay there for 3 or 4 days, then into Cambodia to Siem Reap and hopefully Sihanookville (beach town on south coast) and then Thailand, Bangkok and Koh Phan Ngan. I have no concrete plans except for my flight dates and a hotel in HCMC. I'm travelling solo, so will be sticking to backpackers hotels and trying to make friends. I will eat a lot of food, including bugs and like a million gallons of pho. I will drink rice whiskey and mushroom shakes. I will take pictures. I might die. I am considering packing only two changes of clothes and buying all new clothes there... will be cheap and give me a sweet new asian wardrobe.
Blonde, Repug, any others.... advise me because I am a fool and will make mistakes if you don't warn me about them. |

Yeah but I'm guessing there's not a lot of people to get promotions from in thailand. He came up with my instructor, Felipe De Souza. Anyway upon further review, getting to Phuket may be a problem so I'm now looking at BKKBJJ.com
