F3lix, I find the legislation disappointing on two levels. First, as nubblites have mentioned above, Planned Parenthood is misunderstood and demonized, despite providing a sensible service to communities. Second, and what I find really disappointing, is Mitch Daniels signing off on the legislation, and that's mostly because it's contradictory to what his stated platform would be if he ran for president. The de-prioritization of social issues is what makes his potential candidacy attractive, however, passing legislation that de-funds Planned Parenthood (commonly associated with abortion, therefore making it a social issue) in Indiana will appeal to social conservatives and tarnish his image as someone concerned only with rebuilding our country's economic stability.
While writing this it has occurred to me that Daniels' passage of the legislation de-funding Planned Parenthood might have been motivated purely by state budgetary concerns. Still, it's a polarizing social issue that negates what most of his supporters have found appealing about him. |

Might not be raising taxes now, but what are we going to do when the Toll Road money is emptied? That is an honest question as to one lump sum of money doesn't equal money over the 20 years or so that the Japanese have it. Overall, I've been happy with what he has been able to do. Just think of the budget when we legalize mary jane!

Anybody following this? I really hope it goes through, although it might end up with Colbert being fired.

Huck is out of the race. Good move in my opinion. I don't think any republican is taking Obama out. Plus Huck is still young. Best to milk his time on Fox and wait for 2016 when the field is wide open.

Good point. I guess the concept of a same-party representative running after a candidate's first term is something I've never really thought of before. Bush was the president most of my adult life and I wasn't really paying much attention to the election my senior year as I couldn't vote anyways/was still desperately trying to lose my virginity.
I imagine at least some same-party candidates run every election though, even if they're not considered a threat, right? |

You're going to want to turn most of that hair gray ... over under on Obama looking like he is 60 by the end of his second term?

Basically, Obama is going to win just like nearly every other second-term president in history has. In addition, the fact that he's just been credited with killing Osama pretty much guarantees it. If he doesn't win (due to some improbable yet somehow potential, ridiculous faux pas which entirely eliminates the black vote, which in all likelihood isn't even possible), some kind of Jim Crowish history will be made. In short, either Obama wins or America is perceived as still as racist now as it was in the 1800s. America can't handle that kind of global shit.

We elected Obama (who had NO executive office experience), so not electing him to a 2nd term is the furthest thing from being labeled as racist.
Obama sitting in the corner of the Osama raid war-room like a little bitch says everything about him. Look at what he's wearing, look at his face, look at his expression, his posture, how much he actually had to do with it. He didn't even have a chair at the table. That says everything. |
