"Keyshawn has made it very clear to us that he has no intention of wanting to remain as a Buccaneer beyond the 2003 season, and this approach and his actions are having a negative effect on our football team," general manager Rich McKay said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. "We are focused on winning football games. From a player's perspective, from an organizational perspective, this situation has become a distraction."

"Honestly, I'm very disappointed because I really wanted to win another championship with this team," he said. "I was never Gruden's guy. He never liked me. I told him I'd rather retire than play for him in 2004. But I also told him I wouldn't be a distraction, I wouldn't go to the media with it and I didn't. I don't know why they released me. I was playing hard, I wasn't dogging it. Tell everyone I'm in New York looking for apartments."

Yeah, I remember before this year's MNF game between the Bucs and the Colts, he was prowling the sidelines telling all of his teammates how he was so much better than Marvin Harrison, etc. Then Harrison goes off for 9/167 or something.

Keyshawn Johnson has been a stupid fuck from the moment he entered the league and wrote that gay "Give Me The Damn Ball" book...he's a second wide receiver on just about any team in the NFL.

I agree with you Ugly Bastard. I mean he is always saying he is better then everybody and how he never complains or argues about anything. Well for one he is playing football for money. It is his job he shouldn't be bitching about anything anyway.

I would say he is a good wide receiver but not the best in the NFL. I wouldn't put up with his shit if I was the coach of a team.

i agree with ugly bastard's statement about keyshawn only being a second wide reciever. the bucs have multiple recievers better then johnson. one is joe jerevicus. however, he has spent most of the season on the sidelines with and injury. i am a bucs fan but could care less if keyshawn johnson doesnt play next year.

Haha, Keyshawn is finally getting what he deserves. For the mediocre WR that he is, he sure gets a lot of the media's attention. I say the Tampa Bay Suckanners are better off without him, though they'll never live up to the hype of last year's team.
