Great read regarding how to avoid violence. Not your typical self defense post and well worth the read. No cliche martial arts/self defense tips involved, just a great article to put people in the right mindset. I learned a lot from this article.

The Truth about Violence : 3 Principles of Self-Defense : Sam Harris

I especially like the part where Sam Harris talks about "training" in most martial arts and how it differs from "street violence". I learned pretty early on that many martial arts train in terms of "rules" that just don't translate well to being blindsighted to the side of the face.

Not sure if this has been posted, but, if you buy plastic plates, cups, bowls, and cutlery, you'll never have to do dishes again.

I just scored a fucking awesome set of 180 plastic forks, knives, and spoons (60 of each) at Kroger. Fuck yeah.

Actually have done this a few times with the white athletic socks for that reason. And if you lose one, you just don't care.
