Is it just me, or is emo the most whiny and pathetically stupid form of music? For the most part emo bands are talented (TBS, Dashboard, some Saves The Day, Bright Eyes, etc...), however, I feel that they are so repetitive with their lyrics and messages, that It makes me want to punch someone in the face.
All of their music is about not getting girls, losing girls, and not getting enough attention from girls. What a stupid thing to sing about. No one wants to hear some dumbass singer whine about how he can't get girls. In short, emo sucks. [This message has been edited by ProfessorNumber (edited May 23, 2003).] |

Personally I could give fuck less about most emo because it is pretty whiney and it has the gayest name ever, some of it however, is good.
As far as your problem goes, I'll tell you what... this is tough though, but it has been known to work before. Don't listen to it. |

I ask you to name any genre that doesn't have a stereotypical subject?
Country has beer and farming Rap has it's emphasis on material possessions Hair Metal was obsessed with sex and vainity Punk = anti- government/society/life Gospel is just about god Basically, while i know that my last example was horrible, my point is that every genre has a subject bands seem to gravitate towards. So why care? Professor do you even listen to music yourself? |

I'll give credit where credit is due. Alpha, you raise an excellent point (even if you are a dipshit).
I see what you are saying. But still, most other genres vary more than just one topic. Alternative music for instance can be about anything. |

But alternative music ususally sucks. If you want to bitch about any music form that has a repetitive message, i would have to say that rap is the obvious choice. How many times can you brag about your sexlife/car/jewelry/house/rapping abilities/"game"? You get the point i assume? Hell though rap isn't all bad, it's nice to see some rappers avoid most stereotypes like Nas.
Don't really know what my point was, mainly don't bash emo. And drink lots of green tea and your penis will grow! |

Eh, as long as the music is good, I'm into it. However, I can understand why you might not like 'emo' lyrics. They do seem repetitive in subject matter, but as alpha presented, you can't find any type of musical genre that doesn't get repetitive. Just comes with the biz, and the lyricists of our time.

I have cut down on my portions lately. I am trying to lose some weight. I think I am going to start running and biking more also. Because, for those of you that were at the water slide, you know I have packed on some pounds.
