Bowling Green, KY (AP) -- Two brothers were killed early Wednesday in separate traffic crashes about 15 minutes apart on different roads in Warren County, the sheriff's department said.

The victims were Rory McDowell, 23, and Cory McDowell, 21, both of Bowling Green, according to Warren County sheriff's Capt. Brent Brown. Both brothers were driving.

Rory McDowell was driving on a rural road when he lost control coming out of a curve, the accident report said. His car skidded and struck a tree at 1:30 a.m. CST.

At 1:45 a.m., Cory McDowell's car left another rural road, went into a skid, struck a tree and burst into flames, the sheriff's department reported.

Rory McDowell was not wearing a seat belt. It was not determined if his brother was wearing one, Brown said.
