Buffet's right about inflation but wrong about the market recovering (he was calling "buy" at Dow 10k). This market isn't recovering. There might be some short rebound that serves as a good point to dump whatever stock you have left, but the 2-4 year picture is very gloomy. I think if the market is break-even two years from now relative to where it closed today, that's a significant achievement.

Ok so bank #1 essentially owns a million foreclosed homes. They fail. Bank #2 buys them up for pennies on the dollar. Bank #2 fails. Repeat a few times and one or two banks own an insane amount of wealth. Keep in mind that money isn't wealth, its a constantly fluctuating representation of wealth.
So a couple banks own half the homes in the country. They use large amounts of cash to buy up even larger portions of a number of key industrial leaders because their stocks have fallen to unbelievably low levels, many much lower than a company's collective wealth is worth. Wait for economy to right itself, guess who owns half of the world? |

When buffet buys he doesn't buy needing to sell immediately. He buys and holds. For a long time. Buying stocks might still have been a good move. He invests based on fundamentals. The only problem is he might not live long enough to be vindicated with this last move. But if he does, once again he will come out on top.

To be fair, it was only embryonic stem cell research that was restricted.
But yes, it's a huge statement from the Obama administration that scientific progress is once again more important than religious idiocy. |

Another scenario is that prices have bottomed already, but that inflation will get out of control making the relative value of a flat market negative. So like, if market is naturally going to go down 10%, but we have 10% inflation, stocks will just stay flat. It will seem like things have stabilized while in reality they're continuously getting worse.

Also that cuban thing in the original thread, pretty sure the cuban life expectancy is a lot higher than your/ours. Capitalism has failed, now socialism is trying to prop it up. Haven't researched this at all. ![]()

So subjective. Sweden and The Netherlands are both monarchies.

COCORI Medicine In Costa Rica Health Care in Costa Rica Why Costa Rica | Realty Executives Jaco According to the World Bank, Costa Rica has the highest life expectancy at birth within Latin America. With 78.7 years of life expectancy at birth, Costa Rica’s rate equals that of Canada and beats the US’s life expectancy by one year Costa Rica Healthcare The good news is the Costa Rica’s health care is much better than in the United States by just about any measurement we could find. The World Health Organization, infant survivability rates, overall life expectancy and every other measurement shows Costa Rica to be a much healthier place to live than the United States. You’ll have to look up the statistics if you want to compare to another country. I don't have it in graph form, nor have I looked it up thoroughly (the WHO site is a pain)
