I started this in the Reviews Forum so that (1) it won't be buried when the show starts and (2) when it does, we can continue to add to it instead of starting a new one.

Yeah, so it premeres on February 8th. on the Fox Box, which is Fox's Saturday morning cartoon program. The local time has yet to be announced, but they have begun to air comercials, so keep your eyes open.

Pliedes and I, while on a Ft. Wayne trip with Orgazmo and Ugly Bastard, bought some of the action figures of the new series, which were released a little over a week ago, and let me tell ya...they're pretty damn tight. They're pimp. They basically look like they're ready to kick ass.

Anyway, keep an eye out and let me know what you think after it airs. It should kick ass.

hoh man...

I am ready for this...

I am very, very, very interested to see how they do the characters, and if they have great people doing the voices and stuff.

And I gotta check out those action figures.

Ahh, haven't we all pliedes? I've been saying they'd be back since the day they began to fizzle out in the mid-90's. God, I love being right all the time.

Favorite Turtle: Leonardo

I can say that I am more excited about the New TMNT than just about any other movie that I can think of coming out.

I just hope it doesn't suck, and fuck up the Turtle's reputation for being kick-ass.

FYI:

With the premere now just a week away, Fox has been advertising like a mofo for this show. They have begun to announce that the time the show will air will be 10:30am. This excites me. I thought it would be on earlier, so now I can get more sleep than expected...

Anywho, that's Saturdays at 10:30am on the FoxBox, begining next Saturday the 8th. Spread the word.

Yeah, so it started yesterday, and I know a lot of you watched it, because it was shown at the TNT Birthday Bash, so...what did you think? I thought it was pretty good...it could use a little more development, which I'm sure is to come, but it was all in all alright. There is, I believe, a large amount of potential for this show. Just let me know.

There is such a large amount of potential; honestly, think of how entertained we were, and this time we're 18 instead of 8; thats how good it is.

I'm going to go ahead and start to review each episode from week to week.

~Episode 1~
Origional Air Date:February 8, 2003

The first outing of the new series could have been better, sure. It did, however, do a good job of doing what a pilot episode should do, which is introduce the main characters (except April and Casey, but they'll come). All and all, I give it a 6.

Synopsis:
It starts off with a large amount of small robots (which veterans will remember as mousers) that destroy the Turtles' underground home. The four of them then get split up from Splinter and decide to meet at an old drainage juncture. To do this the Turtles have to surface for the first time, and while above ground, Raphael gets "kidnaped", in a sense, in the back of an armored car, and the other three go to rescue him. After they release him, they are confronted by the Purple Dragons, which is a New York street gang. After kicking some major ass, the Foot Clan show up, and give the fearsome four some real competition. They eventually flee from the sceen in the armored car (which will eventually be the 'Turtle Van') and meet Splinter in the drainage juncture, where he shows them their new pad. And it ends with a shot of an angered Oroku Saki.

~Episode 2~
Origional Air Date:February 15, 2003

Better than the first, but still not amazing yet. It introduced April and Baxter Stockman (who veterans will remember as turning into Baxter the half-fly half-human mutant). In this version of the series, which more closely follows the comic books, has April working as a lab assistant to Stockman. All and all, I give this episode a 8.

Synopsis:
It begins showing Raphael and Leonardo testing out their first vehicle, the Sewer Slider. Maybe a gay name, but the vehicle itself kicks ass. Then it cuts to their new hideout with the five of them, including Splinter, puting the finishing touches on the new place. While the tv's are on, a special announcement comes on that says that a local, very well known professor, Baxter Stockman, had invented the ultimate mouse trap. As they unveil it, you realize that it was the machine that destroyed the Turtles' home in the previous episode. Then his lab assistant, April O'Neil, releases rats in a little maze to show the powers of these mousers. Donatello then reassembles one of the ones they destroyed and they try to follow it back to Stockman's labs. While this is occuring, April decides that there are too many mousers to just be for catching rats, so she begins to search around for answers about what Stockman was actually using the mousers for. Baxter catches her and sends the mousers after her, and of course, she hides in the sewer. Cut back to the Turtles, who are now in a very nice fighting sequence with the mousers, after which they hear screaming and go to investigate. They then save April's life from the mousers, and upon seeing them, she faints...to be continued.

~Episode 3~

Origional Air Date:February 22, 2003

The best episode yet. It does a good job of telling the classic background story and solidifying a relationship between April and the Turtles. And showing the sheer power that Saki has at his disposal. All and all, I give this one a 9.

Synopsis:
It begins with April waking up freaked out and scared to death...you know, being surrounded by ginormous turtles and a big rat would do that to ya. Anywho, Splinter comes out and, after she feels more relaxed, he shares the story of how they came to be. Everyone knows this one, Splinter is crawling around the sewers and finds four baby turtles crawling around in some strange glowing ooze from a canister that says TCRI. And how after they began to become more human like, he taught them ninjitsu (the secret art of the ninja). She then, of course, asks the $1,000,000 question, "How did you learn ninjitsu?" to which Splinter replied, "That is a story for another time." During this conversation, Baxter's mousers' purpose was revealed, as they were shown breaking into the vault of a bank and stealing all of it's money and jewelry. After hearing this on the news, April help the Turtles sneak into Stockman Enterprises to destroy the mousers. Upon arival into the main lab, there is a kick ass fight scene with some machinery. Then Baxter calls the mousers back, and they begin to attack them. Baxter runs, and April, to stop their advance, sets the self-destruct mode on the mousers, and the Turtles narrowly escape with the mousers blowing up behind. Baxter is then taken to Saki by his right hand man, Hun, where he promises to have more mousers in working order A.S.A.P. Saki then requests to see the last image from one of the mousers, and sees the outline of the Turtles in attack possitions.

Next Week...

Next week has the potential to be even better than this week's. It has the introduction of Casey Jones (including a fight sequence between him and Raphael), the completion and first use of their new wheels (made of the armored car from the first episode), and the introduction of the 'Shell Cycle' (a motorcycle). I'm giddy with excitement.

All new episodes are shown at 10:30AM. on Fox, and if you happen to miss the one from the week before, you can catch it at 8:30AM.

I concur.

I like the Ninja Turtles Movies and shit....but I didn't get anything from that first episode.

Tonguegina and pliedes sat there, nearing orgasm while watching the episode, and I was sort of just glad it was over.

Maybe I need to see one of the newer ones or something.

Yeah, I just wanted to play March Madness the whole time...

I mean, sure, it's not a terrible cartoon...but I was under the impression that, everytime we "laughed" at the first episode, it was because we were making fun of how stupid it was. Perhaps I was the only one doing that...

The 1st episode was no great feat, as 'gina stated.

But was funny as fuck.

Watching March Madness wasn't all that exciting either after a while.

Well I didn't say that watching March Madness had to be exciting, but playing it kicked quite a bit of ass.

I'll take a heavily modified college basketball game on the ps2 over watching the turtles anyday. Especially that day.

Even after being put into a reasonably ninja mood (by destroying fruit), I still found no pleasure in watching them beat the bad guys' asses. Interesting...
