Well it's about time I get back on here and type another one of my so much appreciated reviews. I recieved a request to review the upcoming movie Pirates of the Carribean, so I will fulfill that request, and then maybe review one more movie if i have the will power. Possibly, I might review the upcoming Sean Connery movie, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, maybe. So let's get moving, shall we?
*Disclaimer* This review is being conducted based souly on movie previews. So don't piss your pants about it, this is what previews are for. Enjoy. Movie #1. Pirates of the Carribean Ahh, Gore Verbinski is back in the director's spotlight with what looks like another possibly kick-ass movie(The Ring being the first). Now, my very first impression of this movie was cheesy. It looked like it might be a dull attempt at a good pirate movie. Well, after paying more attention when I saw the next preview, i realized that i was probably wrong in my first assumption. This movie will have some far fetched story line aspects, but at the same time, still be pretty damn cool (we all love to see a little carnage every now and then). Mostly because of my faith in Johnny Depp's ability to play almost any role that he's cast into well. I did a bit of history on this movie, and i have found out that this is the second movie to be based on rides at disney world. The first being The Country Bears, which i have not seen, nor do i ever intend to. Moving on....as many probably know, i am not a big fan of pirates, but that's neither here nor there in the realm of kick ass movies. The plot in this movie will be pretty followable (if that's a word). I believe that the movie magic will carry this movie for the most part. That in mind, this movie will kick ass, and therefore has earned itself a badass 4.5 out of 5 stars. Movie #2. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I must start by stating an already known fact. Sean Connery is kickass, period. Okay, glad to have gotten that out of my system. On with the review... Now, as I have stated in one of my previous reviews, i have not seen a lot of the comic book derived movies. However, this one looks like it should be pretty cool. Mostly because Sean Connery beats the crap out of people throughout the movie, just like the olden days of Vodka Martinis and Golden Guns. With this movie, you'll need to know your literary characters, it features a good handfull of characters from varying classic novels. Along with literary knowledge, you'll probably need an open imagination to keep up with this one. I know that will probably be a stretch for some of you, but for all of you others, i have no doubt that you will be able to enjoy this movie. One last tidbit of info for you movie buffs, this movie is directed by the same guy that directed Blade, just FYI. I have high hopes for this movie, but i can always be wrong, after all it's just based on PREVIEWS. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen recives 4 out of 5 stars. There you go guys, your third serving of Preview Review pleasure, i hope you all can dig it. Also, if any of you see any of these movies, come back and let me know if my predictions were close or not. Just don't be a dick about it, this is a civilized review. That means that if I end up being wrong about a movie, don't get pissed at me about it, get pissed at the movie making people for making misleading previews. Make love, not crystal meth. |

Just to let you all know, if you want to actually get a well-worth-your-time copy of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, go to Barnes and Noble and they have the full six issue run for just a measly $15. Seeing as how the original issues were $5, this is an amazing deal.
And the comic book series is going to be a fucking million times better than the movie. The movie, looks to me to be a far cry from the literary masterpiece that was the series. Seriously folks, it's written by the best scribe in comic book history, Alan Moore. Now, Alan Moore wrote the series, From Hell. If any of you remember, that's a damn good movie. But the series is even better. I'm serious, the movies can never capture that absolute glory of their predecessors. The CGI also looks terrible, especially with the Nautilus (Capt. Nemo's ship) breaching....ugh, just looks like absolute shit. Anyway, I'll go see it, but it most definitely is going to disappoint in some way or another. Pirates Of The Carribean. Hey, if the Pirates think this is going to be such a good fucking movie, why don't they make it into a marketing campaign? They pay our admission, we convert to piratism. I'd be up for that....unless the movie sucked. Which it has high chances of doing. So does Sinbad. That's 2 pirate movies that will fail to be box office gold this summer. Hee-yah. Anyway, seriously, keep these Preview Reviews up, but do one thing for me. Instead of soully in the disclaimer, change it to solely. Thanks man. |

I have just viewed "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" and it kicked major ass. It's definitely worth your money to see. If you like a ton of explosions and ass kicking, you'll love this movie. The only thing that could have made it better was a ninja-pirate showdown or something similar.
