Based on seeing two of my friends get married through E-harmony and two more seemingly in very happy relationships, I decided to give it a shot. After filling out the survey, I was floored at how spot on my personality profile was. I instantly got excited for the prospect that this site could match me up with a potential girl. I looked at my matches, which was only 7 in all of Las Vegas and surrounding areas up to 60 miles. This didn't really surprise me, because I know how I am and am glad I didn't have 100 or so options to filter through. The first profile I read seemed too perfect for me. I read through others and decided to give the whole thing a shot. I'll let you know how/if anything comes to fruition.

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

I subscribed to e-Harmony a year or two ago. I speculate there are two reasons why I received just one (or maybe it was two) matches even though I live in an area with over 5 million people within 50 miles of me: (a) I was young, 22, or maybe even 21... so most girls probably filter that they want guys older than that and (b) I indicated in my quiz that I'm not religious at all. eHarmony was founded by some Christian guy. Some people speculate that they kind of fuck you over if you indicate to be an athiest upon signing up.

I like this thread. F3lix, I think a picture and/or summary of your current target would make this thread gold. Post this shit before contact and keep us updated as contact evolves. When that one fizzles, move on to the next.
Wash, rinse, repeat. That's a recipe for success. |

I, too, have felt I might be creating a bias when I claim no religious or spiritual beliefs. I am thinking about changing it to spiritual with no specific religion for that purpose. Although that would also defeat the purpose of finding that "one in a million" idea.
Update: I elected to proceed with all seven matches to the next step (there are maybe ten steps.) The first one is asking 5 questions, which are picked among 57 options and the answers are 4 multiple choice options. Two of the seven "closed" the relationship stating they are pursuing another relationship. The other 5 have not responded. I also got 7 more options, this time with 6 of them being from neighboring states. I'll be really flexible here, but dating somebody 6 hours away isn't really what I'm looking for. |

I made some changes. I changed the allowance for possible matches to see my photo. Now they must start communicating with me to see them. I had uploaded a few (all are most common on my facebook profile, myspace, etc.) I also added on of me in a santa suit, figuring that would indicate that I was willing to "do it for the kids." Eharmony did not approve of the photo and won't allow me to use it. I'm not sure why...
I also changed from no religion or spritual beliefs to just plan spiritual with no specific religion. |

I got my first response. A 21 year-old from Anaheim answered my questions at a very likable level. She sent me questions in return. If things progress, I'll share more detail.

We're moving into personal questions.
a 2nd girl has no opened communication. She's from Bakersfield, CA (which is where a fellow poker friend moved from Indiana to live) We'll see how it all goes, but I'm def. liking the first one. |

Fucking babies.
Things with Anaheim-girl are working out very well. She is quick to reply and we've shared our "must haves" and "can't stands." Once those were sent, we both decided to pursue further and sent personal questions, with the option of using 3 more from the original list of 57. I used two personal and one standard. I liked her responses. These were in essay form and not multiple choice. She asked me three questions and I responded to those. I am now waiting for her to read them and decided if we'll use "open communication." I'm not really sure what that means yet. The first set of profiles that I read had one girl of whom I instantly started up with the questions. Despite her being Mexican (never dated one before) I saw a lot of potential. She shut me down before it even started... That really surprised me because I felt that we both had what the other is looking for. I now have 8 girls left on the match list, down from 14. |

I think that's overdoing it a bit. Pics of the chicks would turn this B- thread into barely an A- thread (which is still good) but let's be honest, A+ is out of the question unless the chicks are naked.
