Sorry to rain on your parade dashboard, but i'm sure the majority of the american population dislikes punk, and i'm pretty sure the majority of people on this site hate punk. so therefore according to me, and probably most of the people on this site. Punk music will be classified as "gay annoying music"

punk rock is stupid fucking shit. They talk about nonsense or the government. You're a fucking moron and a hypocrite. Kill yourself dumbass. You say don't hate on punk b/c you dont know what they talk about, and how it's real punk. Yet you say all rap talks about is bitches and hoes. Yes, some rappers do only talk about bitches and hoes. If you'd listen to good rap and not stupid fuckin Nelly, you'd realize they talk about alot more than that. Eminem is the best example of that. He RARELY talks about bitches and hoes, you fucking moron. Once again, kill yourself for being stupid.
So please, before you sound like a huge hypocrite and a huge dumbass, research a little bit before you make a statement. [This message has been edited by 50 Cent (edited November 23, 2002).] |

Think about this 'bang a clit'. Why are there so many underground punk bands?
Because the majority of the population does not listen to punk, so the record company's do not want to produce punk records. So there is my fucking research! just because you like punk doesn't mean that everyone else does. Another point, how many punk radio stations are there? |

Perhaps someone should let him in on a little secret. You see, headphones were not meant to be utilized by more than one person (let alone an entier classroom). Speakers are supposed to be used if an group of people want to listen to music. That is not the case. One person wants to hear his music in this scenario, and that one person is him.

I'm wondering as to which class this is of which this person likes to play his annoying music.....not sure if I'm in there or not...cause I sit next to a guy that listens to some wacked out shit (I mean....Australian didjiridou solos? What the hell is up with that?). I totally agree with the statement that headphones are meant to be utilized for personal use. This person must not care that they are broadcasting their music out to angry ears, or they just may be oblivious to the fact that there are real people around them, and not Klingon spies, like some people in my computer class seem to think.
Oh, and here's one thing OHB. Underground punk circuits are created because there are certain bands that just simply DO NOT WANT to be played on the airwaves, for that means that they become associated with the likes of Aguliera, Creed, and Nelly. I know I don't want to be associated with bands like that. Most underground punk circuits are non-existant nowadays....or more like, there aren't as many as there used to be. Green Day made their initial fan base through underground touring and shit like that. Now, one thing is that the punk that spawned the pop punk shit that's out there today is still effective. While the Ramones obviously haven't put out an album in quite a while, punk bands such as Bad Religion and Fugazi have put out recent solid albums that hearken back to the good old days. (Look at me talking, as if I was a fan of that music back then). I do believe that I am in the minority here when I say that I enjoy "punk". Or more like....emo punk. Saves the Day, The Get-Up Kids, Face to Face, Hey Mercedes, Hot Water Music and others like them have solid music that most people initially do not appreciate. I for one, did not enjoy listening to Saves the Day for the first time. I hate to say it, but I've become much more appreciative of it after I gave a few listens and actually paid attention to music, and didn't put it on as background. I dig almost every kind of music, except for country, mostly because they're still stuck in the same place that they were in a decade ago.....there are a few exceptions, but damn, I just can't find an appreciation for most of it. Country and Australian Didjiridou Solos are two types of music you will never see in my collection. So, what I'm trying to say is, stop trying to shove your tastes upon other people, and I don't mean exclusively the stuff you like. I mean stop trying to tell people what's good and what isn't just because it's your preference. And that's all there really is. |

Sorry, I hadn't seen it before, and it's a topic that I usually love to discuss. As always, I never check the dates with which these things are posted in.
So sue me.... And yeah, I know, no one will read that. But at least I'm a bit more satisfied. |

Stanky, I disagree with you as well. for the most part, country artists have nearly 4x the talent of your average emo band. the only good emo band I can think of that is worth a shit is descendents... and I wouldn't feel right clumping them with the whiny snivelling shit that comes out now. in short, country is only mostly bad, emo just sucks.

I like punk music... in theory.
For one thing, a LOT of it ends up sounding exactly the same, most of the bands lack a unique quality. Most emo is too whiny and obnoxious, but there are a few good songs out there. Hardcore is just stupid, all that screaming is retarded. Also, the whole anarchy, anti-everything sentiment by punk fans is very ignorant. ANARCHY IS NOT A GOOD THING, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A GREEN MOHAWK. You have no idea what you're talking about when you go around carving the anarchy symbol into everything. Most people in this country barely understand our own sociopolitical system, nonetheless a radically different one. It's stupid... it's incredibly fucking stupid, and I might just punch the next stupid little punk rocker who comes up to me to say something stupid about anti-flag, sniffing glue, or cutting themselves. |

I agree that anarchism is greatly misunderstood by most people. By saying that anarchism is not a good thing, I'm prone to believe that you are one of the many who have a poor understanding of it. Anarchism is not no government. Anarchism is self-government (or its equivalent, self-administration). Self-government means self-discipline. The alternative to self-discipline is enforced obedience imposed by rulers over their subjects. To avoid this, the members of every association freely make the rules of their association and agree to abide by the rules they themselves make. Those who refuse to live up to their responsibility to honor a voluntary agreement shall be deprived of its benefits.
If you'd like to learn more about how anarchism is a good thing, I suggest reading anything written by Noam Chomsky, one of the greatest minds of our time. [This message has been edited by StDx (edited December 10, 2002).] |

Hey CombatChuck, eat a dick. I was just saying emo and country singers sound alike (without the twang of course).
Try being a LITTLE open minded to music not just emo and underground shit. And while your at it, stop sucking your mothers wrinkled tit. I RULE THE CLIT |

Alright, I'm sorry, emo singers DO NOT have a twang, and I really don't understand when you say that country is great and emo is horrible just cause emo all sounds the same and they never sing about anything different.
THEN WHY THE FUCK IS COUNTRY MADE FUN OF ACROSS THE COUNTRY AS ALWAYS SINGING ABOUT THE SAME THINGS? Yes, I agree that emo music and lyrics are usually all about lost girlfriends and such, but then again, there are many emo bands that sing about other stuff. Stop classifying emo as just Dashboard Confessional. He's emo, but there are a plethora of other groups out there who still know how to come up with original ideas. Not saying that country isn't the same way, but you can't hold country music up just cause they have more original ideas. |
