Granted and granite are not pronounced the same. Granite ends sounding like the word "net" or "nit" while granted ends sounding like.. well.. "ted."

Maybe you are the one who needs the schooling, TBE.

You're right. Clearly he mistook those two words for each other because they sound completely different. Taking regional pronunciations and MISpronunciations into account would just be silly, wouldn't it?
