Update: Today I played poker with a 12 year old boy and won $4 off him, losing $0. I later spent that same $4 on a 6-pack of Milwaukee's Best Ice tallboys (i know, but it was on sale).

weird thing happened tonight. I had a string of ridiculously good cards on pokerstars. got pocket queens 3 times in like a span of 20 hands. I busted someone out when I flopped a 4 of a kind with pocket 7's. about 10 hands later I get pocket aces and someone busts me out when they hit 4 of a kind with pocket 7's.
what are the odds? |

I'm not sure but a weird thing happened to me today too. I found out that I SUCK MAN BUTTHOLES AT POKER. It's a god damned shame to find that out after you've already invested $25 into a buy in. Where the fuck was UB watching my back? Nowhere that's where.

I've followed up my best string of poker over the last month and half (up $600) to now hit the longest string of bad beats I've ever taken. I'm still up overall though so I can't complain.

Question for f3lix and UB.
What percentage of players would you say make money by grinding it out in cash games and S&G's compared to those that play all big tourneys? 30/70 or 35/65? Am I close? |

That's really tough to say. I've done all 3 but never successfully at the same time, due to the skill set for each being so different. I can't really imagine more than 3% of the poker world being successful on a yearly basis playing MTT. The variance is so high in those and players think they are baller just because they won a single huge Sunday tourney. 1-table sit n goes can be pretty consistent along with cash games. I'd say cash is the most, but we hardly hear of those players because they don't have their winnings reported like tournament players do. That's the boat I'm in. I play a lot of smallish local tournaments that never get reported (which I really like, because they aren't tracked) but just recently my home poker room (TI) started posting the results from their daily tournaments. I just prefer to stay under the radar. [/ramble]

![]() ![]() My biggest single cash to date, kind of sucks it was on a Super Turbo because it requires a much larger amount of luck to win than a regular tournament. Definitely feels good to cash that type of money. |

I'm not sure I could handle the ups and downs of living as a professional poker player. If I had a source of constant income to supplement my poker then I think it would be more feasible. Then again I would have to imagine getting to a higher level of playing there is more consistent play then what I'm accustomed to at the $5-$20 entry level.
