Thoughts? You guys maybe dont care as much as I do since I live in Michigan, but I was wondering what others thought of the trade. I dont know too much about Willis, but I know Cabrera has been solid and can be counted on for 30 HRs and 100 RBIs a year. It almost appears as though the Tigers are setting themselves up for a 1 or 2 year run at the championship because they continue to part with all of there prospects, and no one knows for sure how long Leeland will be around managing them. They still really haven't addressed the bullpen much though which is a bit of a concern. But our starting rotation is looking solid with Verlander, Bonderman, Rogers, Willis and Robertson (3 are lefties). But hell, with the lineup the Tigers are putting together pitching might not matter so much when we are piling on the runs. |

Beebs, actually the Marlins are setting themselves up in about 3 years to be another World Series teams. They guys they got from this trade are some of the top prospects, and if playing for another team last year, probably play in the MLB. This is wha the Marlins do. They will be bad for a year, and make improvements year two, then be in the World Series in year 3.
As far as the Tigers, they just made a HUGE improvement for next year. Cabrerra has worked out so far and dropped quite a bit of weight. He was getting heavy the last 2 years and it was killing his defensive range, and speed on the basepaths. Willis is hit or miss depending on if he is throwing strikes. His motion cost him alot of accuracy on pitches where he needs to throw strikes, but he can throw a ball by everyone. In that division, the Tigers have to be the favorite coming into next year. |
