I'm not sure if this is exactly the right area for this topic, but looking at below topics i'll put it here...)
I have had this discussion a many times with tonguegina, but i must ask what others think about it? (and don't say nirvana, as much as we like them, we were about 6 when nevermind came out...) What the hell is our generation called by the way? <---prelude) Top Albums - Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way Radiohead - Kid A/Amnesiac (they were recorded at the same time...) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication Incubus - Morning View A Perfect Circle - Mer de Noms And close ones... Tool - Lateralus Silverchair - Frogstomp (might be a little early) |

You guys have good pics, and most of your choices I agree with. However, I have a slightly different list.
1) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication (combines the best of BSSM and By the Way) 2) Radiohead- Kid A/Amnesiac (NO ONE can say that these albums don't belong here) 3) Weezer - Blue Album (it might not be the best masterpiece, but it DEFINES our generation...really) 4) Ben Folds (or anything from Ben Folds Five) - Rockin the Suburbs (no contest) 5) I gotta think about this one too....it could be The Colour and the Shape by the Foo Fighters, but I'm not sure. |

Hey. First, I was born in '85, I could technically put in "Huey Lewis and the News" if I wanted to. Second, if it weren't for Under the Bridge, I probubly wouldn't listen to any music at all. Third, if you go generation wise, we're the very last of Generation X, so we could put music from the '70's in there...techincally.

Props to Anky for bringing up 'whats the story morning glory'. Definately up there, but it's not well rounded enough to be top five... Creed's human clay? you got to be kidding me. My own prison is definately good, maybe up on the list, but i think creed has really gone nowhere but down (and into the hearts of 12 year old TRL girls...) You got silverchair but i'd say wrong album. Fuel, no way.
Tonguegina, i'm trying to make this list more specific to our coming of age and the music of that time. Being seven just doesn't cut it, yeah we picked up bloodsugarsexmagik and it changed our lives (i'm not shitting you when i say it literally changed my life, it is definately on the all-time list) but i still think it's before us... |

silverchair's frogstomp was good... but i cant just let go "ana's song" and "anthem for the year 2000".
I thought about throwing "be here now" up there by oasis as well... although creed's audience has broadened, you cant really blame it on the band. Dont go turning all underground punk shit on me saying the band sucks when they go "corporate." They have solid lyrics and their guitar licks... TREMONTI IS A FUCKING BADASS ON GUITAR. Sure, a lot of bands have picked up on their playing style and sound, but creed had it first. I just attended their concert yesterday and I must say it was pretty sweet. If you say that about Creed, you have to flush A perfect circle down too. And you're wrong about fuel... but then again... its so damn hard to only put 5 albums... First and foremost, are you saying that A Perfect Circle is a corporate band? If not, please explain.
Tremonti is good, he can shred with the best(he should more) but he's started to get repetitive... All around, Creed is definately very solid, but aside from my own prison, i just have a really hard time putting one of their albums up with the likes of the Chili Peppers... Five albums is a small group, but this is where best shine... |

no, i wasnt saying that. I was just voicing my opinion about when "punk" fans get pissed off when an underground band goes "corporate" and all of a sudden the band sucks. I say thats gayer (sp?) than hell. Just because more people start listening to a band doesnt mean that they automatically suck. If you ask me it sounds a little selfish.

I completely agree, there are so many people who, as soon as a band gets some decent airplay, they just shrug them off and say they've sold out. I personally just believe creed's music has gone downhill, not that they've sold out or whatever (though Stapp needs to stop wearing leather pants...)
St.Anky, could you explain what you were trying to say about A Perfect Circle being something like creed? |

They seem to fit in the same genre of music. I thought you were following suit of so many music hipocrits that will buy any cd as long as its labeled "most popular", and smashing on creed just because they're doing pretty good. I agree Weathered was a little shabby, but they have so many unreleased songs that are so good.

My top five:
Gone with the wind soundtrack Whitney Houston-Hero in you Jackson 5-any of them are good Trick Daddy-Thug around the corner Vanilla Ice-Ice cold biatch close close runners up: Big Tymers-Hoodrich Seraphim-we are gay and bend each other over(good cd) Enya-Sounds of Spirit and Soul All are great works of art I might add. I can pop any of these CD's in and it can change my whole attitude and purpose of life. I can become a thug to a nature lover and when i put Seraphim in my dog even becomes homosexual as he will try and hump another stuffed dog that my niece owns. I have deemed the stuffed dog a male making my dog a homosexual dog who fucks a stuffed dog while listening to Seraphim. :::BDH::: |

Last time I checked, Gone With the Wind, and the Jackson 5 weren't considered to be in our generation. Perhaps you should read the name of this forum again, BDH.....or, perhaps not.
