alrighty. though everyone likes different music, and many people out there listen to a very small section of the musical spectrum, i think we can all agree that the music business nowadays is shite. I'm not just talking about automatic sellouts like britney spheres and n*suckmybigphatcock. those aren't worth the time spent to type their mock names... shit. oh well... anyway, i'm talking about how even bands that spend time making quality music and putting alot of effort toward their musical endeavors get fucked over and out. this used to be because of record companies... this is quite common nowadays but something new that seems to be arising is a swelling up of false fans. take incubus for example. their new album, 'morning view', is not very poppy at all really. i mean think about it, they released 'nice to know you' which is a great song, but most people are too stupid to be able to follow a 3/4 / 4/4 part... and SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY a fuck load of retarded people show up to their concerts and act like they've been fans forever. you ask them what their favorite songs are and, of course, they reply with the most assanine example of the 2 or 3 songs that have most recently been released or were most popular.

Point being: if a band can make a great album like Morning View which has got a fairly apparent lack of poppy-ism, but can somehow attract retarded teenieboppers and whack-offs alike, due to media attention, or hot band members, or weed, or whatever else causes it, i think the music business will be stuck in a lull of people trying to cash in on similar success for quite a while.

Speaking of Incubus. Do they have an album coming out anytime soon or what? I mean, I know they just released Morning View (well, a year ago), but I'm ready for another. Morning View was the shit.

yeah actually, as soon as they're done with their tours... dunno if that's happened yet or not... but i heard they'd be heading in to start work on the next album. how cool is that? if you'll note, on the sleeve of morning view, there is a giant dry-erase board with many an unreleased song scribbled on it, no doubt they have much material burning to be subjectified to the masses.

I just hope they don't turn into Weezer where they are pumping out albums so fast, they don't take the time to stop and make the album any good.

True.

I mean, don't get me wrong. Green and Maladroit were still pretty good albums. They just weren't great albums (ie: Blue Album).

what are your opinions on pinkerton v.s. blue album? everyone who always claims to be a true fan seem to be split into those who like pinkerton and think it is god and those who think it gets too much credit... i saw this one video where they were in some wooden room playing and there were a bunch of lights and it was off pinkerton i think... it scared me how apathetic it was... in a freaky sort of way

Pinkerton vs. Blue That's a tough one.

I'd have to go with Blue though. Pinkerton was a great way to enter the business. But the Blue album is what put them on the map. The first time I heard "Say it ain't So" I fell in love with their style (which is very original I might add, something I like in a band).

First of all, weezer has gone downhill, they aren't horrid, but they've gone downhill. Rivers, in one interview, said he 'hates fans'. thats not even cool
Incubus. They are easily one of the best bands to come around since i've been listening to tunes, and they get nowhere near the respect they deserve. Titan, props to you, a real music lover, you actually noticed the constant signature change in that song, heck yeah. Morning view is also their best album yet, and it deserves it's place with other top albums of all time (not that near the top, but still)
The music industry has gone to shit. So many bands get no airplay or record deals because they're are handsome guys or cute girls, it's a bunch of shit. There are endless numbers of small bands out there that would kick the shit outta all the groups on the radio, it is a shame...

I would honestly like puddle of mudd if
A) their name wasn't puddle of mudd (mudd is a girls clothing company and literally(but spelled wrong) dirt)
2)their singer actually sang through his mouth
D)they didn't have song called 'she fuckin hates me'

Some of their stuff can be ok.

Those other bands though, oh my god they suck ass...

What happened to rock? i don't know, but it'll make a comeback...

I think Nirvana kicked up metal and a lot of the grunge shit. Some of their songs we're really decent but a lot of their shit was pointless. I think they got a lot of cover over the Kurt Cobain shit (spelling?)

St.Anky, what the hell are you talking about? Nirvana was huge before he died.

Oh yeah, and Courtney Love killed him!

Nirvana was part of the beginning to grunge, they didn't kick it up, they, along with Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains were grunge, they were the beginning.
And grunge rules, don't try to me otherwise, i'm from seattle, fucker.

alrighty.

nirvana did not kill rock. the people who made nirvana too popular and made kurt cobain have to deal with their popularity (grunge should never have to be pop, grunge rules) and made him kill himself are too blame. and then in all reality courtney love is to blame for killing him.

nirvana were ONE of the starters of grunge, and grunge was good, unfortunately with kurt's death, everyone else seems to give it a bad name now.
soundgarden, alice in chains, pearl jam, all the big starters of grunge. grunge rules and if you don't like it, visit www.killyourself.com and while you're at it, GO AHEAD AND DO IT.

grunge was just a glimmer between punk and all the pearl jam wannabe/sound-alike bands out today. it was a great wave of music, but the bands that try to recreate it never will, because it was as much a time period as it was a sound. had grunge not caught on as well as it did, it may still be around but, unfortunately, it never really stood a chance after it was neatly packaged and sold. do any of you listen to green river, mudhoney, brad, bushpigh, the jesus lizard, the new strychnines, or monkeywrench... all great 'grunge' bands that were actually all around when it was happening.

green river and mudhoney were all right... haven't actually heard the music from the others, though i've heard of them. my music at the time came from my brothers, since i was just a youngin', that's why soundgarden is jesus to me tho, my brothers listened to them all the time.

sadly enough, everything at one point or another has to die under the suffocating grip of the music business.

on the other hand, that's probably why eighties music died too...
