I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar phenomenom such as the one I'm about to explain. Ever since I've been at college I've found myself to be either constantly thirsty or constantly consuming a liquid beverage, usually in the form of bottled water. I'd say I drink at least 2 bottles of water a day - at the bare minimum. That doesn't even take into account the bottle of gatoraide I usually drink with a meal, or the juice/milk I drink at breakfast. Am I turning into a diabetic? Does anyone else find themselves drinking all of the time? I'm not talking about alcohol so please spare me the dumbass replies like, "I'm always drinking Coors Light." Good for you, fucking loser.

I found drinking liquids is better than putting that money into food thus causing obesity, so yes, i'm a liquid intaker.

Wow! That's kinda errie. I know exactly what you're talking about. I drink about a gallon of water perday, not to mention close to a half gallon of milk, and usually a little juice. I take a huge fucking three-minute leak about once every two hours.

Yet, when I go home to Warsaw, I don't drink shit. It's weird.

Interesting. The other day I was thinking about how much more I seem to pee all the time, like seriously at least once every couple hours if not more. Maybe it's because I drink a lot more...

I do what the fuck I want.

I drink water all the time, in fact since the new year began I have been drinking only water and nothing else. I find I feel better and I am well hydrated. There is no bad results from drinking a lot of water, that is medically proven. It's very good for you.

maybe in college, since we're walking a lot more, we dont realize it, but we dehydrate a lot faster. Then, when we come home we just sit on our asses, thus provoking no need for as much liquid sustenance. Just an idea...

very analytical Anky. Let me elaborate a little more. While we walk a lot more, we also find more of a need to fulfill our workout schedules as well. example: you working out with Pliedes.

Good Point, my friend.

Did you know every system in your body depends on water? You should make drinking 8-10 glasses of water part of your daily routine.

1. Get healthy skin. Drinking water moisturizes your skin from the inside out. Water is essential to maintaining elasticity and suppleness and helps prevent dryness.

2. Lose weight. Increased water consumption can help you control weight by preventing you from confusing hunger with thirst. Water will also keep your body systems working properly, including metabolism and digestion, and give you the energy (and hydration) necessary for exercise.

3. Flush toxins. By helping to flush toxins, appropriate water intake lessens the burden on your kidneys and liver.

4. Reduce your risk of a heart attack. Researchers have found that people who drink more than five glasses of water a day were less likely to die from a heart attack or heart disease than those who drank fewer than two glasses a day.

5. Lubricate your joints and muscles. Water makes up a large part of the fluid that lubricates and cushions your joints and muscles. Drinking water before, during, and after exercise can also help reduce muscle cramping and premature fatigue.

6. Stay regular. Water helps prevent constipation by adding fluid to the colon and bulk to stools, making bowel movements softer and easier to pass.

7. Stay hydrated, get energized, and be alert. On average, most adults lose about 10 cups of fluid a day through sweating, exhaling, urinating, and bowel movements. Even minor dehydration can cause impaired concentration, headaches, irritability, and fatigue.

8. Regulate your body temperature. Perspiration is your body's natural mechanism to control body temperature. And to sweat, you need plenty of water.

9. Reduce your risk of disease and infection Water can help prevent kidney stones and reduce your chances of getting bladder, kidney, and urinary tract infections. One study found that women who drank more than five glasses of water a day had a risk of colon cancer that was 45 percent less than those who drank two or fewer glasses a day.

10. Get well. The traditional prescription to "drink plenty of fluids" when you're sick still holds strong. Water can help control a fever, replace lost fluids, and thin out mucus.

that's not true at all. While it's not something you hear a lot about, athletes especially are subject to hyponatremia. They exert themselves and drink too much water causing the amount of plasma in the blood to increase which in turn causes the sodium content in the blood to dilute to an unhealthy level, not to mention they're sweating which releases more sodium. It can very easily be corrected and usually has no side effects if caught, but if left unattended, a sodium inbalance in the body can lead to a coma or even death.

Are you serious? That's crazy. Although almost everything we eat has plenty of sodium so I doubt that's a problem for most people. If it is, just eat shit with sodium in it or drink some gatorade, that has plenty of sodium in it.

In our Healty Lifestyles Class they were talking about this just last Tues.

If you are preforming physical activity in hot weather for more than an hour where you're constantly sweating. It's actually better for you to drink some sort of sports drink (Gatorade, Powerade, ext...) than it is water because it replaces the electrolytes you have lost in your sweat.

There's life and then there is Cubs baseball, it's a chore to seperate the two.

I read that in a Runner's World magazine once.

They called it water poisoning, something about sweating the sodium out and then drinking too much water, and having too much water in your body and not enough sodium.

Yeah, that happens all the time, but usually it doesn't get too serious. If you're done with your event, you can just eat food which replaces electrolytes just as well. However, if you are not able to take a break or you're in the middle of a sporting event or whatever, a sports drink is good, or even drinking some water and some gatorade is good too.

We were talking about that in Bio this week. If you're in the desert for a long time then drink a shit load of water, the water will flow into your blood cells so quickly that they'll explode. We actually looked at blood in our lab. Some had too much sodium and some was flooded with water. In the one with the water, all you could see was cell remnants. It was sweet.
