Does anyone know what that effect is actually called
I'm talking about the effect most commonly attributed to Peter Frampton, also done in Daft Punks' Harder Better Faster Stronger, and all sorts of other songs. I fucking LOVE that shit. I seriously don't think i've EVER heard a song with that effect in it I didn't like. Something about it is just like magic to the human eardrum. I could look it up, but i'm still drinking that shit franzia i swindled, and i'm pretty drunk. halp pls kthx |

GWB's latest post in KAVotD has revived a hate in me for what Tpain, Kanye, and a number of other artists are doing these days; I thought it was the talkbox, but apparently its this:
Auto-Tune - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "At the 51st Grammy Awards, Seattle band Death Cab for Cutie made an appearance wearing blue ribbons to protest the use of Auto-Tune in the music industry." sweet. |

By "Tpain, Kanye, and a number of other artists..." Do you mean virtually every single artist? I didn't know that really anyone was not using Auto Tune.

I like Death Cab, but this is pretty fucking dumb. Yes, the technology covers up inconsistencies, but doesn't every other thing done in the studio help with making music sound better and at the end of the day putting out a better product? And if they are protesting the use of auto-tune in the sense of using it in a T-pain, Kanye, etc. type of sense, is that really any different protesting any other use of an instrument?

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.
