Wow, good to see we're concerned about the major issues up on capitol hill these days... Oh well... protesting by changing the name of food is probably going to prove pretty successful... right... from (the real) cnn.com:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The restaurant menus in the three House office buildings will change the name of "french fries" to "freedom fries," a culinary rebuke of France, stemming from anger over the country's refusal to support the U.S. position on Iraq. Ditto for "french toast," which will be known as "freedom toast." The name changes were spearheaded by two Republican lawmakers who plan to hold a news conference later Tuesday to make the name change official on the menus. "This action today is a small, but symbolic effort to show the strong displeasure of many on Capitol Hill with the actions of our so-called ally, France," said Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, the chairman of the Committee on House Administration. Ney, whose committee has authority over the House restaurants, directed the change, after colleague Walter Jones, R-North Carolina, circulated a letter suggesting such a move. "I represent a district with multiple military bases that have deployed thousands of troops," Jones said in a statement. "As I've watched these men and women wave good-bye to their loved ones, I am reminded of the deep love they have for the freedom of this nation and their desire to fight for the freedom of those who are oppressed overseas," Jones said in a statement. "Watching France's self -serving politics of passive aggression in this effort has discouraged me more than I can say." France has pressed the United Nations to give weapons inspectors more time in Iraq, saying the U.S. and British-led move to war is premature. http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/...ies/index.html |

Well, the bastards on Capitol Hill can call it whatever the hell they want, at least they're not dirty french government officials.
Maybe in France, where they love their cheese so much, they should rename American cheese to... well, I honestly I have no fucking clue, but it should remind them of what ungrateful bitches they are for everything we've done for their country. (Yeah, that's the best I've got... I'm exhausted and I just spray painted something) |

America did the same thing to Germany during World War II. I remember learning that they changed the disease, "Measels" (which is a German word), to, "Freedom Spots".
There were a bunch of other things they changed...that's just the only one I can remember for now. -Ugly Bastard [This message has been edited by Ugly Bastard (edited March 13, 2003).] |

yeah we call hambugers freedom bugers because hambugers where named after hamburge germany and we cant support them haha im sorry but i think thats dumb
especally the fires the only reason they are call frech fries(only in the US) is because the US troops ate them there after WWI and came back and started makeing them here and since they saw them first in Franch then they called the french fires BUT they werent even originaly from there. This doesn't even bother the french they could care less what we call them there not the ones who said they were "french fires" what harsh ways we show are dislike for other countrys haha its pritty funny if you ask me |
