Solution to Osama virus spreading through AIM - Nubblies.net Forums

DO NOT DOWNLOAD A SADDAM/OSAMA GAME YOUR AIM BUDDIES ARE SENDING TO YOU!
It is spy software that you just don't want. If you did play this game, remove it.

Removal Directions:

Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete [If you have Windows 2000/XP click task manager]
Locate ChannelUp.exe
Press End Task / Process
Click "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", Click "Add/Remove Programs"
Locate "PSD Tools ChannelUp v1.0 (remove only)" Click "Remove" and Click "Yes" to remove.
Locate "PSDT Messaging Integration" Click "Remove" and Click "Yes" to remove.
You are now finished, but you can delete the empty directory of "c:\Program Files\Common Files\PSD Tools" if you want
If that does not work ...
Search for ChannelUp.exe, click "Start", "Search", "For Files or Folders", and search for "ChannelUp.exe" without the quotes.
Delete ChannelUp.exe and any other files it returned that look questionable
You have now [maybe?] gotten rid of the virus / spyware
How it Works: A Link is IM'd to you saying "check this out... http://[removed]/osama_capture.php?xxxx" After you install the software on the page that was sent to you it immediately instant messages everyone on your buddy list to install the software also.

Why the fuck would anyone install this stupid software? I got the link from so many people, and I find it hard to believe that that many people were that gullible enough to download the fucking thing.

I had a friend that told me it was a fun game, so I figured it was ok...I didn't open it until she said it was a game.

Ok, the first off, the f3lix didn't post all of the instructions to remove this. My friend just messaged me and told me that she still had the virus so i did a little investigation on my own. There's another program than you have to uninstall. Here are the directions:

Start --> Control Panels --> Add/Remove Programs and then removing the applications related to:
• BuddyLinks
• PSDT Messaging Integration
• PSD Tools ChannelUp v1.0 (remove only)

I got these directly from AIM's here.

that was straight from www.aimawaymessages.com (I still had files that it would not let me delete, but it no longer sends out stuff, so it kinda worked)

I have an even better solution. Buy a mac. Then all of the retarded 'PC' viruses wont affect you.
