i am obsessed with emo so i thought we should have an emo thread.

i am not so much obsessed with emo life as i am entertained by it. I had no idea these people were still around.

it is at least the 6th most used word on this board.

so if anybody want to say anything about emo or discuss it or bash emo in any way, please go ahead and do it here.

this would also be a good place to identify things that are emo
such as mr. blonde's basement.

and the whole thing about Ironic Mustache's girlfriend breaking up with him and moving out and cancelling the cable, that shit is mad emo.

I hate Wal-Mart, believe that Bush bombed the twin towers, do drugs moderately but pretend I'm desperately addicted, and know that there is a perfect emo bitch out there for me, I just havnt found her yet. (Even though she's probably with a corporate-slave investment banker who drives a fancy car and goes to the bars because he's totally uncomfortable with who he is).

I don't respect anyone who considers themselves to be emo, or straight edge, or anything like that. Why the hell do you have to claim to be something? People know what you are. You don't need to tell them. It is really not that interesting.

Hi. I like to be different. I like things until everyone else starts liking them, then I dont like those things anymore. I like to listen to music where guys sing like girls and all the songs are about their girlfriends breaking up with them, or being sad, or gay. I like to think that emo bands write songs that are so deep and that it takes true insight to understand just how powerful the lyrics are. When in reality the songs are are written by simple-minded pricks, for simple-minded pricks.

This is from a blog I read a few days ago, which I pretty much totally agree with.

A brief summary of why I dispise emo.

Lets start at the beginning EMO. The name of the genre is the first three letters of EMOtional.

That pisses me off right away, who the fuck are you to say whats emtional and what isnt? Is there music that isnt emtional? Why is being a whiney little bitch more emtional than anger or happiness? Lots of bands right emtional sad songs, yet they arent cool enough to be dubbed "emo".

Next, EMO kids. I wanna kill every one of these trendy ass bastards. The pants they wear make me want to stab myself in the eye, I never thought i'd see the day where wearing girl's pants would be fashionable for guys. Or how about the hair? or the white belts? or the glasses? Congratulations you are wearing a fucking uniform, and you spout that you like emo like it makes you fukcing awesome or something. FUCK YOU EMO KIDS! Your middle class suburban ass has nothing to be sad about shut the fuck up about killling yourself and just do me and everyone else a favor and fucking do it.

NEXT.....

Every emo band has the same style, and vocal sound. You cant tell any of the fucking bands apart. The generic formula of emo songs and how everyone buys into it makes me want to burn all of humanity. I just dont understand the human psyche sometimes. "My girlfriend dumped me and it rally really hurts!"

Emo myspace pictures, you're not original, you're not artistic. You're just like emo bands. You have a simple formula. Emo pictures arent creative and lack any though what so ever. Sucking your cheeks in, puckering your lips, not smilling, making that unhappy emo face, holding the camera above your head, taking a picture in the bathroom mirror, then adding lots of contrast, or saturationg colors, turning the pictures black and white. You're not creative you're not original and you're not cute. And turning pictures black and white and upping contrast may make you appear to have a decent complection, whiter skin, and hair that appears more black, but thats just a fucking picture. your black hair is still washed out with roots showing and skanky looking, your skin is still zitty and nasty, and youre not as pale as you'd like to be. Cut you're fucking throat.

lastly

claiming to be like punk rock, emo is th exact oppisite of punk rock, saddness vs anger, whiney vs aggresive, fast vs slow, political moving towards societal change VS self centered close minded trash.

the only thing emo and punk rock and emo have in common is that they have scenes, emo has become the new trendy rebellious youth music. But it isnt rebellious its exactly the oppisite. Crying to yourself about yourself is not rebellious nor is it anything like punk rock.

Fuck emo, it isnt even fucking real.

Emo sucks, hardline sucks, indie sucks, YOU SUCK!

Almost EVERY FUCKING SONG on the radio is about love, relationships, or a breakup. I basically agree with what i just quoted, and despise people calling others "emo" simply because they listen to a kind of music that can be stereotyped as such.
