If Mike Tyson can have $300 million and go bankrupt, I know it's possible to put all that money to work for positive things. I'd change my family's life forever with $500 million. I wouldn't want it just for myself, they deserve it just as much if not more than I do. My parents would never have money troubles again.

Now who's the dumb bitch? Just because I can think of a lot to do with a large sum of money doesn't make me dumb, actually it makes me pretty smart if you ask me... I'd give my relatives the life they never had. That's pretty damn generous...

Anyway, I'm sure if you wanted to, it would be possible to model this scenario with game theory principles. Given, you would have to create some quasi-arbitrary metrics (ie, what your risk aversion level is, how much you value your life, etc...), but I'm sure it's possible to find a number that would equal the expected utility/pay-off of the coin flip option.
