![]() From my blog:
The tenets of the Democratic party are to increase the size of government by increasing taxes. Their ideology is that money spent on government is money well spent. Some Democratic politicians, as was the case with Bill Clinton, are actually economic conservatives. In the case of Clinton, he created NAFTA and decreased welfare spending, both of which were fantastic for the economy. Barack Obama is an economic leftist. He has already been outspoken about his wishes to increase capital gains tax, income tax rates for those in the highest bracket, and has also hinted at altogether removing the cap on social security taxes. At its core, what Obama is asking the country to do is not too different than the following: Imagine a farmer is approached by a government official. The government official tells the farmer, “see all those people sitting on the road over there ?” The farmer looks and sees several dozen people sitting on the road just looking around. “After your fields have been harvested, I’m going to come back and take enough of your crops and I’m going to give it to those people sitting on the road.” The farmer is flabbergasted. “You’re going to feed all those people with my crops? How am I supposed to have any left to sell? How can I pay my workers?” The government official doesn’t seem to think those questions are relevant. He walks away with the promise to come back and collect the crops come harvest season. Angered, the farmer sits there wondering why he should have to work long, hard days to feed people who are doing nothing in return for him. Then the farmer reaches a realization, “screw ‘em.” He pulls his workers around and tells them that he’s sorry, but he’s going to have to let some of them go. Because of the government official, running the farm is no longer economically viable. Instead, the farmer is going to maintain just enough crops to feed him and his family. After all, no sense in spending time and energy growing the other crops when they’re just going to be taken away from him, right? Business owners are the farmer in this story and Barack Obama is the government official. What he wants to do, on a much more grander scale than what the government official in the story did, is to take the output of peoples’ production and use it to give to people who are doing nothing. Not to imply that there aren’t several reasons why Obama (and liberalism altogether, for that matter) are very popular right now, but the reason why Obama appears so popular is by the sheer numbers of people who are "sitting on the road", so to speak. Right now, Barack Obama is a superstar who is benefiting from huge groups of people who love what he is telling them. His message of “Hope” and “Change” is so great that it sounds too good to be true. And guess what? It is! If this country is foolish enough to elect him President, be prepared for one of the worst economic periods in America’s history. Just like the farmer in the story, there will be many, many hard working capitalists who realize that they have been priced out of being productive. Barack Obama gives people incentive not to work. After all, why bust my butt for another dollar when $.50 of it is going to be taken away from me, right? The reason why stupid college kids like Obama is because he speaks to their worldview. He makes them feel good and makes them think that it’s okay to be spending their time doing nothing. Basically what’s happening right now is that the people sitting on the side of the road in the story are growing in number and getting whinier and more complacent. What they don’t realize is that they’re fixing to screw themselves and everyone else over. As soon as they elect an official to go tell the farmer to give them his crops for free, that farmer is going to shut down his production and everyone is going to get what they worked for. Nothing. A vote for Barack Obama is a vote for a giant kick in the balls to the wealth of this nation. ![]() |

![]() I agree with some of what you've said, but a lot of it is very one sided and over simplified. I have to go to work, so I'll respond in more detail later today. But yes, I am voting for Obama, because McCain is just Bush lite.

![]() I agree with the overall message you are conveying, although as Repug point out, some of your ideas are over-generalized.
Ultimately, Obama represents the epitome of creeping socialism -- and in times of economic downturns/stagnation/disparity, socialism sounds pretty good to the average idiot American. My number one fear for America is NOT global warming, it's NOT the war in Iraq, it's NOT any of the current hot-button issues. Rather, my largest fear for America's long term longevity is creeping socialism. Words cannot express how very much I hate socialism, and the idea that it is infiltrating America. We have an enormous deficit, an energy "crisis", a social security system guaranteed to collapse within our lifetime, and a whole lot of other fucked up shit happening right now. Who is going to pay for that? If Obama has his way, the educated and hard-working Americans will. He actually wants the government to help bail-out the people who's mortgages have been foreclosed? Fuck that. I'm in favor of prosecuting the people who were responsible for shady mortgage dealings, but the majority of these fucking idiots who were foreclosed upon, were simply living beyond their means. Fuck those motherfucking idiots. Fuck them. I understand that the situation is obviously more complex than that -- mortgage backed securities and securitized investment vehicles obviously exacerbated the situation. Regardless, Obama wants to bail those idiots out, which is the exact type of creeping socialism that I fear the most. It sends a message to all the people who live within their means, and who pay their mortgages, that they are idiots for being responsible. Why be responsible when some douchebag named Barrack will bail you out? Don't even get me started on socialized healthcare. Goddamnit I hate Obama. |

![]() Obama, if elected, will try his best to ruin our long-term chances at being the #1 economy in the world. He wants to ruin it. He and the rest of the un-fucking-grateful Americans who forget why we are so wealthy.
Do you know why even the poorest Americans look rich compared to the rest of the world? It's all about FUCKING INCENTIVES. Who wants to invest in America when there is no upside? Why should I, as an Asian/Middle Eastern/ European invester put money into America and employ Americans if I have no potential for gain. Why not go to Hong Kong, Singapore, or even the UK? Why not put my money where I can actually earn a return? Why should I, as a super-smart international worker, choose to move to the US to add to the economy and pay 70% taxes rather than Western Europe, where (surprisingly) I now pay less taxes and enjoy a better life? Admit it America, you're getting greedy, you had a good system for a long, long time. You got a lot of smart people to come here. You got a lot of money to come here. But you're fucking ungrateful and you're going to waste it all... Dubai is the new hotness, and America is fucked. Because everybody wants to earn 6 figures, have a 7 figure home, and thinks it should come free. And they think that we can do it all while not trying to be competitive. They think we can tax the living fuck out of America and it will still be competitive. Good God we're fucked and I'm so fucking glad I'm leaving. |
