Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

Milk was great, but I honestly think that politics is the only reason Sean Penn beat out Rourke that year for the award. That year the Academy was plugging Gay Rights...this year it was the War in Iraq (Hurt Locker). In the end, Mickey Rourke should've gotten it, The Wrestler was a fucking amazing movie, as well as more of a dramatic stretch for the lead actor.

I wonder if athletes are in any way formally immune to certain criminal charges while participating in a sporting event. For example: pitchers who intentionally hit batters and/or batters who charge the mound fists-a-swingin', or a hockey player punching another hockey player... I mean, that's assault, right? Why are they never charged?

I feel that although I've only been back to nubblies for as brief of time as I have, that I watch this site too closely in regards to the menial amount that I, as well as everyone else post. In short, I don't think we stir shit up enough, and are too inclined to "pump the brakes". |

Random Thought of the Day:
I realized today that, for some reason, I walk to work faster than most people, but walk home from work slower than most people. |
The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. |

It was Luis Resto, he was charged with assault and possession of a deadly weapon. Also the bigger factor in hurting his opponent was that the padding was removed from the gloves, although it was said that he also soaked his wraps in plaster of paris, but I don't think that was ever proven even though it is almost certainly true. The real scumbag was his trainer, Panama Lewis, possibly the worst human in the history of boxing, which is saying something. But with Santa, there's the realization at about 7 or 8 years old that Santa doesn't exist. If it worked that well with Religion, the world would be a better place.

Nothing you don't already know from memories of your childhood. Even if you disagreed with your parents, you still pretty much always did what they said. Blind belief in authority figures keeps us all from accidentally killing ourselves. We may not be old enough to understand why, but we know we must obey. It's one of the evolutionary arguments as to why religion is so prevalent.

I'm watching Dawkins' The Root of All Evil? and came across something where he says basically what I did, which makes me think I probably read it in one of his books or articles a while back. But here ya go UB:

Remember the Y2K bug, when the world’s computers were expected to shut down because they couldn’t handle the “00” in 2000? There’s another one expected this year. It’s known as the Y1C problem, and although equally serious, it’s confined to the island of Taiwan, which uses a calendar that dates year 1 from the founding of the Republic of China in 1912. For many computers in Taiwan, 2011 is the year 100, and with the “00,” chaos may ensue.

I have a growing urge to acquire another dog. It's a terrible idea that I almost certainly will not follow through on, but if I had a more stable living situation with a yard, I think I would probably do it. Scout is five now and I feel like he's just kind of bored a lot of the time. I believe a companion dog would remedy this nicely for Scout. I peg Scout's life expectancy to be around another 8-10 years. I would try to get a dog who is likely to live about that long. A Great Dane fits the bill quite nicely. I love those dogs and want one at some point. And for whatever reason, Scout seems to love Great Danes. He humps them anytime he encounters one at a dog park. Yes, a Great Dane is what I would be acquiring if I had a yard. But I don't.

Phase 1: Acquire yard
Phase 2: Acquire Great Dane Phase 3: ???? Phase 4: PROFIT!!! As a sidenote, do you have your own place? I have to say that if I was staying in some place for longer than two years (something i've never done) I would definitely own my own property. Also, which Nubblites own property that they actually earned themselves instead of getting it handed down to them like some incorrigible spoiled fuck? |
