I was more thinking that a bar fight would not be a 1 v 1 kinda thing. I sure as fuck can believe that Bjj is effective if it IS 1 v 1, but that is why I picked a bar fight. I thought my selection of this type of fight made it obvious, but I forgot how low the IQ of the posters on this thread are. Incredible Dork seems to be the only person who can follow a post that is written at a dumbed-down 8th grade level. Silly me, I'll spell everything out next time, kinda like I have to do in this post. Is this better Repug and Beebs? DJFC?

jiu-jitsu v. non-jiu-jitsu beach fight. That's the difference.

Nice pattern of logic, Beebs.
For me, lifting weights or wanting to learn to box are more than 99% about just wanting to look healthy, feel healthy, etc. Sure, there's a very small part of it that is kinda nice knowing I might be able to handle myself in a fight; but let's be honest, putting in all that fucking work just so you can be prepared in case you ever get in a fight is pretty fucking pointless. I would hope that the majority of the reason you JJ guys practice this sport is either because you do it to be healthy or get off on rolling around with other guys. Doing it solely to "know how to fight in case you ever get in one" is pretty fucking stupid given the amount of time you spend on it. |

You are on nubblies right now. There is little if any long-term benefit to you for doing this. Essentially you are wasting a valuable asset (time) on nubblies, for your immediate entertainment. People who train bjj may do it because they have free time, they enjoy it, or they like to stay healthy. But the long-term benefit of self defense/confidence can be far reaching, and the insurance policy that they provide would clearly be worth the training for a great deal of people. It may actually save your life someday. So don't accuse me of "failing to ponder" something before you spout off with something completely asinine, because I'm sure your skydiving shit does less for you than bjjers get out of training. You might get your jollies off for a couple seconds, and you may have some long term insight (don't get me wrong, these are all important things), but bjjers get a long-term asset.

I gave the response I did because, despite however gay it might look, it is effective. If you are mature enough and not worried about closet cases calling you gay, you get all the benefits listed above, plus the ability to fight effectively.

This is really annoying. All you homophobic ass clowns like Ugly Bastard and F3lix ruin threads like this with their juvenile antics: "Omg that's soooo gayy!" Just shut the F up already and grow up. People train in lots of combat sports for a lot of different reasons. Now, instead of talking about the actual grappling and circumstances of it, we're having to defend the sport against a couple of childish retards.

Repug, at what point did I say it was gay?
Secondly, how many people get into beach brawls or fights that are solely 1 v 1? My whole point with the bar fight comment, is that sure bjj will work in a single person battle (I've said this before), but if you are using bjj on my friend and have him on the ground, I'm going to bash a bottle over your head. If you have him in an arm-bar, I'm going to stomp on your face. To me, that just doesn't seem worth it. A broken face to break an arm. |

If my arguement is so "retarded" and "childish" it sure is nice of you to dignify it with a response. Especially the type of response that sounded like I really struck a nerve somewhere.

Jesus Beebs, get over yourself.
Fact: You participate in a sport that involves two males rolling around on a mat grabbing each other. If you're going to do such a thing, toughen your skin a little bit to all of the immature cracks that assholes on Nubblies are making. It'd be insane of you to expect us not to say anything. Have you read some of the shit on this site? |

WTF is this? Did someone name you the "Policeman in charge of No Repetitive Humor" on here?!?!?! And show me all this documentation of me using the same gay jokes in "every grappling thread". I don't even read half this bullshit 'cause I'm not gay.

The other dudes name seems to be Brian Drogman (sp) is that the same guy? I bet Bloody creamed his pants when Eddie mentioned him as "one of my top dogs." It really seemed that Bloody was trying to prove a point by using a 10th Planent style finish instead of just trying to win with whatever was there.
