Today I attended a bake sale.
This wasn't your ordinary bake sale though. They only sold cookies, and they were priced in relation to (generalized) affirmative action standards. White males - $1.00 White woman - $.75 Hispanics - $.50 Blacks - $.25 What ensued was the most fun I've had in a long, long time. Put on by a local conservative student group as a statement about the inequalities of affirmative action, it drew a massive crowd in from the largest student union in the world, at Indiana University. I haven't seen so many angry black people since I took my brother driving through St.Louis. On a few other occasions, such bake sales have been put on at other universities around the country, but most of them were ended in 15 minutes by the school. Here at Indiana, we all stood around and debated, talked to reporters, traded words, and generally had a great debate on affirmative action. I personally believe affirmative action is racist policy. What do you think about Affirmative Action? Regardless of how you feel, go have a bake sale, it'll be one hell of a time. |

Uh...whoever put this on stole the idea from a group in Arizona that did it last spring, just so you know.
It's still really funny thought that they did it. The Arizona group got theirs shut down by the school after they found out what was going on. -Ugly Bastard |

It's actually been done by another group in Minnesota or somewhere. A lot of conservative groups do it as a way to protest affirmative action. It's obviously not a new idea, but the fact that I was able to attend one made it fun.
