Alright, I was in the mood for a brand spankin new SeeDee yesterday, and usually when I'm in those moods, I have to suppress that mood due to funds, and the lack there of.
However, I had just gotten a 5 dolares certificate from Sam Goody/On Cue and I decided that I had enough to spare to satiate my hunger for some new music. So after play practice I putter on over to the establishment that I have habitiated for a long while, and compiled a list of CD's that I had had my eyes on for some time. If any of you really know me, you'll know that I have a list of CD's that I want to get, and that list is always huge. And that that list grows every day. So I knew that if I didn't find one CD that I wanted, there would definitely be another one to fill the gap of the other that was missing. But to my chagrin, out of a list of 20, there were only around 5 that were available. I swear, I searched and I searched some more, but the fuckers weren't there. So I brushed it off, and said, 'Oh well, that just narrows down my selection....there are still 5 that I can choose from'. WRONG. Did I happen to mention that out of these 5, not one of them was on sale, and they were all marked to incredibly high prices, such as 17.99 in some cases? Now, the high prices of CD's is nothing new to me. I've always been a complainer when it comes to CD prices, but the fact is, there used to be a time when most CD's were mildly priced from the 13 to 15 dolares range. Now, most of them are climbing rapidly. Thing is, this is just Warsaw's Sam Goody. In the mall, almost all CD's are priced at around $19-21. No wonder the fucking music industry is trying to find a scapegoat in music file sharing, and/or search engines. No one can fucking afford CD's these days. I ended up finding one that was on sale, but it still cost me around $15. I used to find CD sales at around $11.....fuck this. I'm a huge advocate of buying actual CD's. I never download entire albums, I leave that for when the thing's plopped itself into my CD tray. But man, I'm finding it easier to just listen to the few songs that I have on my computer, rather than shell out too much for a CD. Then, there's the organization skills of usual CD store employees. It's usually people who were looking at certain CD's and then put them down where they don't belong, but man, when I see more than 6 CD's in the wrong places, I start to get annoyed. Whatever. I got my CD, I got out, and didn't feel as satisfied as I wished I had been. Fuck. |

Yep.
Something needs to be done. It's getting abzurd. In the mean time, shop at Karma, their prices really are better, I got Queens of the Stone Age and The Streets for $15. Chuck, when you get famous, you can change the way the music business worx, we'll all be working toward that common goal. |

Being a musician, i'm a huge advocate of actually buying cds, but the industry makes it so damn hard for me to hold this view.
They say downloading is cutting in to profits, so they raise prices --> this makes cd's harder to afford --> people download more --> not as much cd sales --> they increase prices again --> more downloading... If they would see the error in their ways and simply cut the costs of cds, they could stop this vicious cycle. The consumer base can obviously not stop this; so record companyies need to stop wasting time suing decent programmers and programing companies and just stop charging out the ass for fucking cd's. |

I'm with 50 Cent, I have the same supplier who helps me out a ton on the CDs when I am not able to get it myself. This man has never turned me down for a CD in my life and let me tell ya, his prices are a hell of a lot cheaper than Karma's or Sam Goody's. In fact, 50 Cent's new album is now in my possession due to this man that 50 Cent and I speak of.

i personaly think Karma is way better all around. First prices, they have promised that they will always be cheaper than Sam, if you find it cheaper at sam tell them and they will sell it to you for less. Also when ordering, at sam goodie. everytime i have asked about a cd that they don't have they say we will order it for you AND everytime it is always over $20!! at Karma they automaticly take off $3 if you order anything though them. Also, it seems they have more not so popular music more underground bands then just the popy rapers, singers, etc. I also find the employees alot nicer and helpful
PLUS Sundown works there and yeah shes hott! haha and well i just think you will have a much happier music shopping experience if you shop at Karma |

Problem is, Karma's selection is worse than Sam Goody's when it comes to the music I like. Sometimes it isn't, but sometimes it is.
Sam Goody has a whole half of the store dedicated to CD's. Karma has a wall. That's it. While I do find better prices there, it's harder to find what I'm looking for. Ordering. I've done it once. When I want a CD, I want a CD right now. I don't want to have to fucking order it, and wait a week or two. That's the problem with that. I don't know, maybe I'm too picky. But when it comes to my tastes, I have every right to be. |

i also agree. for karma being a "local" music store, you'd think that they would have more of the underground and harder to find stuff...but in reality they barely have anything...i will say that their prices are cheaper though.

Well I hate to break it to you, but there is this badass thing called the Internet where you can find music for free. I mean Jesus Chuck they even have madison(nj) who even you the wonderful all knowing music man hasn't hear of. Don't get shitty with companies like Sam Goody when you can fuck over the whole music industry by getting free music on Kazaa and other sites. So quit your bitching "Pedro the Asspacking Lion."
