So after a year of anticipation I picked up my yearbook today and was completely disappointed. These yearbooks suck ass. Half of the student pictures are missing, the captions are either wrong or just stupid, I was quoted as saying something I never said... there's not even an index in the back. Honestly, what the hell? How difficult is that? I'm sure some people on yearbook staff actually tried to do well, but as a group I think they failed miserably. You'd think after taking over a year to get these back to us, they'd at least be descent. How about a refund?

I agree, it is ridiculous enough that these books are more than a year late....going on almost 2 years since we ordered them. Kudos to the yearbook staff *cough* leonard *cough* for such an excellent job. There are so many mistakes I can't even begin to count all of them...and they aren't even in the minor details - these are major flaws! Not only are pictures missing, but names are labeled wrong, or they are not even the right person, etc. And the quotes and captions ...oh god, the quotes and captions...can we butcher them up any more? The grammar and spelling is that of a 3rd grader...which im sure is a reflection of our staffs' wonderful education...or ejookashion, as they would most likely quote me. I think I speak on behalf of my entire senior class in saying that these yearbooks fucking suck ass...

Oh god and to think that I am picking my yearbook up tomorrow... now I don't even know if it's worth the time but it's already paid for... that's the bad part.

The section for the major news events that happened our senior year is also missing, i was looking forward to having seeing a nice little section about OSU winning the ntl championship, but ohwell. This is also quite the racist yearbook its entirely in black and white except the senior photo section. Also i'd imagine that with all the missing photos some people didnt even make one single appearance in the yearbook, i hope they didnt happen to purchase it.

Okay, looks like I have some explaining to do.

I was given an associate editor position after one of the editors crapped out on the staff. (we were already way behind) The BIGGEST problem with the yearbooks were not so much the people on the staff or the yearbooks themselves, but the advisor. Mr S. Now I, with about 6 other people on the staff, tried hard to make everything happen and to keep as much tradition as possible; however the man, Mr. S., wanted things done his way. He was the new man in charge and single-handedly screwed things up. Like I said, some of us tried hard and fought with administration to keep things like previous yearbooks; however they didn't help either, they gave Mr. S sole ownership and command and for that I boo them.

In conclusion, I think the yearbooks are just fine the way they are. Everyone stop whining and just accept them for what they are and live with them. YOU know what happened during your senior year and yearbooks just add to the memories. It shouldn't matter if they are perfect or not because life isn't perfect.

It is my humble opinion that everything quoted above is a steaming pile of rabbit shit. Now I'll go ahead and tell you why.

In conclusion, I think the yearbooks are just fine the way they are.

Something tells me that your conclusion may show a bit of bias. My guess is that, if you hadn't any ties to the book's creation, you'd be taking quite a different stance on the issue. Granted, it's quite possible that your stance would be one of not giving a shit (instead of the assumed "the yearbooks blow" stance)...but I really don't think you'd be defending them.

Everyone stop whining and just accept them for what they are and live with them.

I think it's fair of people to assume that something yearbookish in nature should maintain a decent standard of quality. When this doesn't happen, people who have lost money have a reason to bitch for a reasonable amount of time. This statement will eventually evolve into something that isn't steamy and horseshitty (once the "reasonable amount of time" has come and gone)...but, for now, it's just no good.

YOU know what happened during your senior year and yearbooks just add to the memories.

I agree. That doesn't mean a shitty yearbook is okay, though.

It shouldn't matter if they are perfect or not because life isn't perfect.

This is cummy on many levels.

To start the ball rolling, I don't think anybody expected a perfect yearbook. The book is never perfect. People are normally fine with that.

To keep the ball rolling, life and the yearbook's qualities don't really have anything in common. Just because life isn't perfect doesn't necessarily mean that the yearbook can't be.

To stop the ball's rolling...I don't know...but we can't just let the ball roll on forever.

To close things here...whether you'd believe it or not, I'm more aligned with the "who gives a shit about the yearbook" group than the "the yearbook sucks, I want a refund, fuck you all" group. In fact, I haven't even gone through the entire yearbook...nor do I plan to in the near future. I have thumbed through it quickly and seen many of the mistakes previously outlined in this thread...and I do agree that they justify those that do care about the yearbook in bitching.

So bitch on, I say. Bitch until you can bitch no longer.

i really dont think you can pin the blame on one person for a yearbook containing hundreds of pages. It was obviously the whole staff that really fucked up, cause logically i cant see how anyone else on the staff would let something shitty like that happen unless they really didnt give a flying fuck about the yearbook.

I had a small part in this year's yearbook. I was supposed to make some sports page and something else, but I didn't. Instead I played video games all period long, all semester long. Anyone who doesn't like their yearbook I'm sorry, but I enjoyed my class time not putting any effort into it at all.

Well I had a hand (minor, sure) in the creation of the lovely yearbooks, and I sure as hell am not going to be running up and down the streets, praising them any time soon.
Anybody else notice that Leonard managed to get himself on practically every page?

picked mine up today...

the biggest problem with the yearbook... the fact that it had my picture in it.

other than that, did anyone else become overwhelmed when they turned to the underclassmen pages and there were masses of "No Photo Available" boxes scattered throughout? surely there weren't THAT many students absent on picture day, or maybe there were. i'll give them the benefit of the doubt here, but it just looks awfully tacky.

Okay listen up. First off to Aqualarian. During the process I basically hand very miniscule input. They only made me an editor because thethether dropped out.. Do any of you know what my job was? It was collecting pages and turning them in. That's it, no doctoring or editation allowed. The other girl editor took them all home on her lap top and did them. I was just a political standin.

Secondly to Sparklemotion, I am not on every page, in fact I am in there a few times because, well i played the sports that I was pictured in, I was easy to quote because peopel knew and saw me everyday, and because I was voted into the other positions. If you think about it, how would I take pictures of myself during events or what not and place them in when I have no input and no sources because the other chick took teh stuff home. Look again, there's a lot more pics of others.

And with that this matter should rest.

I had originally seen the spread for Tiff and it was good stuff; however when I went to college and came back a year later to get my yearbook I realized that the page had changed thatnks to one man. Mr. S

I was on staff this last year. (not the class to do the yearbooks that you all currently just recieved) And I completely agree with the fact that most of the problems that occured are indeed due to Mr. S. That man...I swear... He is too old to understand what he was doing, it looked like everything was running smoothly before he came along. I do hope that despite his interference that this last year's yearbook will be better. Luck to the staff of next year. I'll be there again. And I apologize ahead of time if the next one is just as bad or similar...Blame it on Mr. S
