During the first inning of last nights game Slammin Sammy Sosa came up to bat. He swung at a pitch making contact and in the process his bat shattered into two pieces. They were picked up by the umpire, and it was discovered that the bat was infact corked. Corking your bat is illegal in baseball, and as a result Sosa was ejected from the game. He claims that it was his batting practice bat, and it was an honest mistake. Meanwhile all his other bats were consficated to be examined by MLB officials. Pending the results of the examination his records/career could very well be in jeopardy, assuming it is found he is a slimy little cheat.

Regardless it is just another reason for me to continue to NOT watch MLB. Steroids and now corked baseball bats, are truly why baseball is referred to as "Americas Pastime."

Anywho post your thoughts, is Sosa a bat corking jew, or was it just an "honest mistake." If you feel he did intentionally do this, what do you think they'll do to his records?
