I'm just throwing this out there, but what about having a political forum?
I know we've already created an arts forum recently, and not long ago we added the games forum, but I think we actually could have enough interest to have a forum dedicated just to political topics. You see, I wanted to create a topic asking if military could be justified by human rights violations alone, but I couldn't think of where to put it at all. We've had many political topics (such as the Death Penelty topic) which turned out some of nubblies' best posts ever. And I know topics (like the one I want to start about Gun Control) will also be heavily (and hopefully intelligently) responded to. And if push comes to shove, it can always be a place for ya'll to stick Lugo's rants about Bush, so that we can collectively ignore them. Such a forum would definitely be used, so I thought I'd suggest it. If not, oh well, but I think it's a decent proposal. |

As long as you plan on following it up immediately with Religious, Philisophical, Moral, and Psychological forums, sure.

snydz.com forums
I've tried to have a serious discussion forum before @ snydz.com, and have seen such a thing implemented well on large forums. It can spawn some highly intelligent conversation, but you need a few smart people to keep things interesting, and good guidelines to keep the drivel out. If it isn't terribly active, the quality goes down and it begins to get pointless. I think it could be done here, but I'd remove the News board, and split its threads between the General board and the Issues forum. Just look at the News forum: Some of the stuff is topical, humorous, and sometimes trivial, while other things, such as the 9-11 thread can spawn debate and serious thought. They don't really go together. Adding a new forum while keeping the News would damage both. Kill the News forum, and all the current events and humorous stories would end up here in this forum, and all the issues would go to their own home. That'd be nice. There's only such a thing as a bad opinion if there are such things as bad and good. Which there are, it just so happens that the terms are relative, thereby making the concept of a bad opinion also relative.
