I finally switched to my own insurance from my parents. Previous cost: $949/6 months. Geico quote for the EXACT same coverage: $491/6 months.

I guess you just have to review these things from time to time and see if you are getting fucked over like my parents were.

geico had the best ind. rates for me too, which I was surprised at. Usually the companies that start out humble and offering low rates and are popular because of it, end up upping their rates eventually. See: sell-out factor.

Their commercials aren't annoying, they're amazing. I switched to Geico solely because of how funny they are. Well... that and I had been getting insurance from Schroeder's dad and I couldn't live with myself knowing I was funding activities in that household.

I spent the 100 initial extra dollars and went to a broker. It was the best investment of my life... I cut my insurance to about $465 every six months, from $750.
