It is meant to be a slap on the wrist, by taking away your 3 priveledges. If doing drugs wasn't illegal then there would be no testing, they just have to resort to this inorder to get the message across. |

It doesn't matter how much money they spend on drug testing because it is from a different fund. My U.S. history teacher explained the whole thing to us but i forget everything he said i just know there are several different funds for different things e.g. if they decided not to build to football stadium they aren't allowed to use that money for blockscheduling.

money isnt the point... the point is, the school gets into peoples personal life way too much.
Your parents do not pay and send you to school to get drug tested, they send you to get an education. not to mention the school is not fair with that whole policy.. i was in trouble for alcohol last year, and faulkerson told me that he knows about basketball players that do it..but does he punish them? no, he doesnt. why? because basketball and football are entirely too important. Our school is nothing but shit, if they are going to be gay and drug test, atleast make it fair. |

GRAVY!!!
The only argument any of you fucktards have been able to provide for your ignorant viewpoint is your apparent lack of an education. If you shitheads are honor students and athletes in our public education system, then perhaps funds have been misappropriated! I could care less about your blatant drug and alcohol abuse, if you sorry asses can't write a proper sentence or conjugate a damn verb, you're fucked in today's ultracompetive job market. Start protesting, bitches! YOU CAN ONLY BUY SO MUCH WEED AND CHEAP BEER WHEN YOU WORK FOR MINIMUM WAGE! You should be outraged! No, I did not edit this post 3 times... it was 4... Guess who's the dumbass once again; getupkids.
The point is if someone wants to involve themselves in the discussion they need to read all the posts they shouldn't have to spend 5 minutes fucking trying to restructure in their head your sentence because it makes no fucking sense. That sentence wasn't quite so fun to read was it? That, my friend, is the point that your intelligent superior was making. Not to mention no one is going to take you seriously or give a shit about what you have to say if every time you make a post you look like a complete moron. Moron. |

Seriously, getupkids, and all the illiterates that have swarmed this forum in the past month....since this is a fucking forum, you should use proper grammar, proper punctuation, and usage of the English language.
In order for us to take you seriously, you need to at least prove to us that we need to give a damn about what you are saying. So far, you've failed miserably. |

All im trying to say, is that for one person to classify ALL drug users into one category is straight up bullshit. Not every drug user is going to make minimum wage. There are PLENTY of smart people, and athletes that do drugs. I'm not going to go into names, but i just think its crap to judge everyone.

Drugs are illegal and the school has everyright to test you. It's only a hassle to those that do drugs unless it makes you feel uncomfortable about handing someone a cup of piss...So just fill it to the rim so they spill it on themselves.
If you do drugs at all don't complain because you don't have any right to do drugs no matter how smart you are. You may be smart but it will still ruin your health over time. |

You don't have the right to do drugs because it is illegal, it is one's duty to obey the law. Unfourtunately the law isn't always correct. That's why people like getupkids are still breathing. If the law were always correct his parents wouldn't have been able to reproduce.

The law may not always be correct but drugs were outlawed for a reason. More negative things have been associated with drugs then good. Yeah maybe some people just sit and relax when they are stoned or plastered but then there are others that cause trouble because it alters your perception, and using most drugs on a regular basis leads to health risks. people then say that it is their own choice to be unhealthy but then what about the health insurance of the company you work for provides. The government has to pay for part of that. Then what if you have a family and you go out drinking and on the way home die in an accident. Would you want your kids to grow up knowing that? It's not just alcohol that causes accidents. heroin and other opiates slow the central nervous system.

How do you think government gets that money? Taxes dumbass, taxes that everyone pays. Also, I'm clearly not saying that hard core drugs such as heroin, cocaine, lsd, etc.. should be legal. Just the more mild ones...ones that you cannot OD on...Which to my knoweldge is only one. I don't really do drugs either but I see no reason why weed is illegal. It's retarded. It's illegal to drink and drive, therefore it should be illegal to be under the influence of any drug whether it's legal or not. Oh, one more thing Rufus, I heard all that in DARE, why don't you form your own opinion about things. [This message has been edited by Dirty Harry (edited May 21, 2003).] |

If everyone who has done drugs got in trouble, most of our parents would have criminal records. Heck, most of the generation before us would. It was acceptable behavior in the 60's and 70's, whether illegal or not. Kind of like the thing with Fulkerson and the B-Ball and Football teams. He knows people from those teams get drunk all the time, but he doesn't do anything. Because he knows, one way or another, people are still going to continue to do what they want to do. That and the fact that sports are WAY too highly regarded at WCHS. And Rufus, you're actually wrong about more wrong than right coming from it. Sure, I'll admit, the harder drugs DO cause lots of problems, but those are also just dumb. But my friend has a book about the history of marijuana, and it goes into detail how helpful the plant actually is. Not only being used as a drug, but also just the many uses of the plant. It gave a statistic saying that marijuana plants could provide enough energy for America for the next few hundred years. As in, it could replace fossil fuels and burn more efficiently. Not only that, but we don't have to wait millions of years for it to become a usable substance. I'm not sure if that is the exact statistic, but it is something really close to that. In closing, I'm not saying that everyone should go out and always get high and booze up and shit. But I believe that our government and school are overeacting on an issue that really isn't that detrimental to society. I guess we should just stand back and see what happens to Canada, and let them stand as an example of how harmless this topic is. |

Personally, I can see both sides of the story...but I haven't been convinced that the school shouldn't be allowed to test. I think they have every right...
The school doesn't force anyone to take a test. It's each person's decision to be placed into the pool from which names are drawn. If you don't want to be drug tested, don't be drug tested... Sure, there are laws out there that go unenforced at time, sometimes rightfully so...sometimes not. This doesn't take away from the fact that they're still laws and enforceable at any time that the authority figure decides to drop his or her fist. Just because some with the ability to enforce don't exercise their right to do so with certain individuals doesn't mean that every individual will receive the same treatment. There's always going to be some degree of corruptness with shit like that...it just can't be avoided. Just because you don't think a law is right, or you can think of an example that the law was stretched for another person doesn't give you the right to break it. Sure, it may give you the right to bitch a little bit...but not break. I could be driving down 30 going 65 mph, behind a truck doing 75. If a cop sees us both and decides to just get me and to let the truck go, it doesn't automatically erase the fact that I was speeding. The law says I need to go 55...so I should be willing to accept any punishment levied for not obeying. Sure, I'm going to bitch about the truck getting away...but, when it comes down to it, my arguments won't leave me with a leg to stand on.
