Brock Lesnar?
Whats everybody think about the fight last night?
My opinion: If he sticks with it and trains hard the guy could be an animal, so unbelieveably powerful. If he does some BJJ training my guess is he'll be one of the top 5 HW's in the world. |

He's already 30, hes probably never going to be a top 5 fighter, but he will definatly continue to get better.

In such a weak division I think there is no question he could be top 5... could you name 15 better heavyweights right now? I'm not sure I could. As physically strong as he is I think there's no question he could have another 7 or 8 good years left. Hell he almost TKO'd Mir last night.

I make bad decisions.

I think Lesnar could be an impressive beast with some more training to work on some more submission defense. His strength was impressive and I was impressed at how quickly he took Mir down and pounded him. I was really surprised that he didn't TKO Mir.

Brock will keep my interest because he's so damn strong, but I don't think he'll be a top 5 guy within the next two years, or possibly ever. Wrestlers always have a hard time against submission guys. Plus you put him against someone with good take down defense and he'll get slapped around. He needs more time and more experience.

Please don't put Cro Cop's name in this mix. The heavyweight division is actually getting pretty competitive. Does Lesner deserve a shot at Couture after only beating Herring, I'm not so sure. Lesner is over powering, but don't think he has the ground skills to compete with the elite. He has had plenty of time to camp for Couture, but Randy is a willy veteran. It will be an interesting match up. With both of them having a wrestling background, it could be a ground and pound fight. Advantage Lesner with his strength. I still don't think he is a top 5 HW in the world.
1. Fedor 2. Nogs 3. Mir 4. Couture 5. Arlovski |

Cro Cop? Get real, the guy is a has been. Jeff Monson wouldn't sniff lesnars jock. I think Lesnar would easily take Monson down. I was thinking Josh Barnett but am not familiar with Overeem and have only seen Emelianenko fight once so I can't really judge a good opinion on him.

Cro Cop is defiantly a has been but I think he could still ko a guy with as shitty stand up as Lesnar. Lesnar would take Monson down where he would then get sub'd in short order... I think. I can't really say for sure because Monson isn't exactly grate off his back.

You can make the case for Brock being a borderline top 10 heavyweight, but top 5? C'mon.
Still, top 10 after 3 mma fights shows you just how shallow the HW division is. 1. Fedor 2. Nog 3. Couture 4. Barnett 5. Arlovski |

I'll be honest, Shaw and I talked on the phone for a good 15 min. before watching Urijah Faber get knocked out and he has some sort of hard-on for Arvloski. I did at one point but his last few fights have been boring as hell. I used to be big in his camp but I truly believe Lesnar would really have his way with Arvloski.
I think he'd take Monson for the very reason that once he got him on the ground and mounted there's not shit Monson would do. |

There's no way Brock would mount Jeff. In fact I don't think Brock has mounted anyone in his entire career. Maybe Heath Herring briefly. But he couldn't finish Heath who is a pretty week grappler compared to Monson who is an adcc champ.

I think if your fatass comes in overweight and you still get your ass handed to you, you should lose the title. Especially if you're hallucinating and don't know where you are half the fight. Who the shit was he talking to?

Anyway I agree 100% All he has to do to keep his title is not make wight!? that's bullshit. And on top of all that he's a boring ass flopper. |

It has been talked about on Sherdog. He has had problems with drugs in the past. Apparently, he had a relapse in his camp. Lost all motivation. He def. looked completely out of it last night. | |

1. Fedor
2. Lesnar 3. Barnett 4. Velasquez 5. Couture I don't want to say I told you so... but I told you so According to the new article on yahoo: The Lesnar show - UFC - Yahoo! Sports Fedor vs. Lesnar will happen within the next 2 years. I hope Fedor rocks Lesnar's nuts into a coma. |

Good call. I don't think many people thought Lesnar could be this good this fast. Honestly though, he's still not super skilled, he's just so goddamn big. Mir was 245 for that fight and Lesnar weighed in at 265, but you have to think he probably fought at closer to 285. A 40 pound weight advantage is huge. I won't take anything away from Lesnar though. His submission defense is good, his striking is getting there, and he's much more patient. Most importantly, he's what a true heavy weight should look like. A lot of these heavyweights, pretty much all of them really, weigh around 230-250, and that's just not big enough. Maybe the UFC should add another weight division? Like 205-230? Someone like Mir could cut down to 230.
