Some Law Firm Commercial about recall.

I'm not sure if anyone else has heard about this. But I'm in the area around Cincinnati and Louisville, and I've seen at least a half dozen commercials about this, and, being from Warsaw, it definitely caught my attention. Most of the commercials are from the same type of law firms that overload tv about filing a claim about Mesothelioma though. So I don't really put too much stock in it.

Anyone have family or friends at DePuy that would know of any negative effects that this might be, or is having?

The funny part is some of the commercials are pronouncing it Depwee Orthopedics. Surely I want to sue the 3rd largest company in america with a lawyer that can't even pronounce the companies name right in his commercials.

The short answer is that it's most likely not really a law firm running the ads.

I'd guess that all states have unauthorized practice of law statutes. Many companies, have tried to get around this by having "captured counsel" who are employees of the company. Others are more blatantly companies in business solely to practice law. Perhaps the best recent example was Wolpoff, which was owned by a hedge fund who lost its ass.

Without getting into a bunch of mundane regulatory stuff. The nationally run commercials are typically a company of some sort referring these cases to other lawyers for a fee. All states that I know of prohibit the sharing of legal fees with non-lawyers. So they the company uses the lawyer as a front to launder as well as market. Some states, like Texas, prohibit strict referral fee sharing even amongst lawyers --even though it still goes on a smaller scale.

I suspect that depuy ads are just a company trying to cash in and need the lawyer for a front.

There are many lawyers trying to capitalize on the Depuy Hip Recall. Before it was banned, this bot had a signature with a link to a website using the anchor text "Depuy Hip Recall." The effort is to try to improve the linked-to's website's search rankings for that term by spamming msg boards with links to that site on that keyword.

We don't really get a lot of traffic from "Depuy Hip Recall" being searched, but, in looking to see if we did, I found that, starting on 8/3, we've been getting 10-25 hits a day from people searching "horse dick." The link goes to Unity Through Avatars. This is quite peculiar since the word "dick" isn't used anywhere on that page. Searching "horse dick" on google images yields ID's horse picture as the first result, though. Quite odd.

Note that the site that hosts that picture is DO NOT CLICK THIS (nsfw too) MEN HORSE FUCKING DO NOT CLICK THIS.I only included that information because I know some of you will click it anyway, and it is sort of funny.
