wchs' last coffeehouse of the year and the tri-kappa art show...

i attended although i was pretty sick and dizzy, and didn't go to school. i stayed in the coffeehouse for most of the night.... i wasn't very impressed. granted, the jones soda decor was pretty neato, and there were white ball things hanging from the ceiling for guitar-players and singers to bang their heads on... i still didn't really enjoy it that much.

the worst moment by far was when mr. paul crece sang that ACDC song or whatever it was... and he started screeching. yeah, screeching. it is sad when people RUN OUT OF THE ROOM with their hands over their ears when someone sings. personally, i would take that as a sign to shut the fuck up. however, that's just my opinion..

anybody else go and witness any of the other cool stuff that was there?

The art was good. The choir was good. The food was good. The chai was free. Kusserrow was good. Her free cd is great. My girlfriend was beautiful...

Everything else was wretchedly mediocre.

The art was pretty good. I didn't really pay much attention to the other stuff all that much, but I still had a fun time.

I personally didnt think that the art was that wonderful. It was alright for high schoolers but what happened to the time when students were talented like Drew and Claire. As for coffeehouse, those of you who know who I am, know what part I play in that, unfortunatly I was too busy this time around to put any time or work into it. Hence I believe, part of the reason it sucked, there wasnt anyone to really oversee the whole project as there usually is. And Fruit, where do you get off saying that this year's has been a joke?? Personally I believe the first few went great, and I really dont remember ever seeing you at any of them.

I've been at almost all of them this year, and I can say without hesitation that not one of them were as good as the coffehouses last year were. Last year, there were more people coming out to watch and play. As of late, no one even knows when auditions, let alone know that there's even a coffehouse coming up. The music was better, the organization was better, it was just better last year. When I go to these coffehouse things, I go with the idea that I'm not going to be subjected to spur-of-the-moment performances of ACDC songs with joke telling time in between in order to fill the time not spent with music playing. There used to be poetry readings and skits by what used to be the improv troup when music wasn't being performed. That's how I get off saying that this year's coffeehouses have all been a joke.

Every piece of artwork in the painting section that I happened to like a lot turned out to be by Laurel Hoffer. That girl has her shit down.

the coffeehouses last year were pretty damn good. the ones this year are probably so unorganized and shitty because the committee that runs them, student council's entertainment committee, MAJORLY lacks organization this year. now, this is coming from the co-chair of that committee.. i'm a senior this year, and it's a known fact that during the second half of the school year AT THE LATEST, a horrible thing called senioritis sets in... so i just really don't care about anything right now except enjoying my last days of high school the way i want to enjoy them. the other co-chair is a little different and tries to get stuff done, but personally i don't think she has very much get-go... so that might explain a few things.

last year when i was the sole chair person of the committee, i actually cared about it... i'm not saying i was a godess at running the coffeehouses, but the whole committee was fantastic and we worked together as a team to make them as awesome as they were.

plus we had a whole lot more talent last year. i wouldn't know because i've totally excluded myself from student council during this term, but it's probably been pretty hard to organize these coffeehouses when the people participating don't have the slightest fucking clue about what they're doing.

I had a pretty good time there. I get to catch up with some fellow Nubblites that I hadn't seen in a while, and my little brother's artwork got an honorable mention.

I can understand you guys being pissed about the coffeehouse organization, but you lose a class like ours, you should know everything's going to go down the drain. Being involved with the coffeehouses last year myself, I know they aren't easy to set up. Besides, what else do you guys have planned for a Thursday night?
