The Chicago Cubs can't seem to get over the hump... I am not a cubs fan but do you think that they can overcome and get into the playoffs...... Pretenders or Contenders?

There's life and then there is Cubs baseball, it's a chore to seperate the two.

The Cub's will never become a true contender for the world series. Their owner is an asshole who only cares about filling seats (not a hard thing to do seeing that they have one of the highest number of season ticket holders for any team in the MLB). If you were really a fan you'd kill the owner, GM and working staff at the clubhouse, granted don't hurt to many of the players, some of them are decent enough, and would draw a large sum at slave auctions.

they had to get a second basemen cause of gruz. being injured...womack is the only decent 2nd basemen that had passed waivers....if the cubs can end up .500 on this road trip while playing astros dbacks and reds they have a shot...there sept. sch. is the weakest in the league....and if htye get to the playoffs they have a shot at winning the division cause they have the best pitching staff in the nat. league....

Womack is a bench player regardless. Just look at his numbers this year. Ramon Martinez has a better batting avg., on base percentage, and slg percentage. He's statistically better in every categorie than Womack besides steals. Which isn't saying much seeing as womack only has 11 SB's compared to his huge year last year. The cubs have also sent Hee Sop Choi down to the minors because of these new additions that are terrible. While the cubs needed another 2B Womack won't and shouldn't play. Then again, there's a chance he may find new life in the cubs, who knows.

Womack will not be a major part of the cubs. However the cubs did make a decent acquisition this year in Kenny Lofton. He has a decent BA and he still has his speed. They should go after a solid hitter... yes Sammy is good but 1 for 4 with a HR isn't gonna help them win.. I do like their pitching staff.
