Cheese really is an amazing food. I mean, what other food is as good as cheese in both solid & liquid form? I can't think of any. Also, you can put cheese on pretty much anything. Take a piece of bread. A bland piece of bread. Dip it into some spicy cheese and BAM, you've got yourself a tasty snack. I'll assume you accept all of this as fact...because that's just what it is: Fact.

Now, with all that you've read in mind, I propose an interesting scenario. Imagine that all cheese is being held hostage by a Godly power. Imagine that the cheese will only be released with the sacrifice of a human. Imagine that you've been elected to be sacrificed. Alright, remember this scenario.

Now, of course, if you were scheduled to die in 2 minutes anyway due to cancer or something, you'd say ta hell with it and sacrifice yourself. Perhaps if you were to die in 2 weeks of cancer, you'd say ta hell with it...so that everyone on Earth could enjoy cheese for you only giving up 2 weeks of life. Of course, we really don't know when we're going to die...but let's pretend we do.

Alright, so you've been chosen to be sacrificed, yet it is your decision whether or not you will allow it to happen. You know when you're going to die if you decline the offer as well. Also, it should be noted that if you do decline being sacrificed nobody will hold any grudges and you won't be treated any differently than before. The only real difference in life is that there will be no cheese anywhere.

Alright, we have the groundwork, so here is the question. How much of your life would you be willing to give up in order to have cheese restored to the planet? If you were scheduled to die in one month, would you sacrifice yourself for the queso (thus giving up one month of life)? What about a year? Five years? Or are you really caring. Would you sacrifice yourself no matter how much time you had left? What if you were an infant scheduled to live to be 120 yrs old. Would you do it then? How much of your life would you donate to the planet's cheese fund?

Now, realize that the time you're giving is taken from the last part of your life...that's just how the scenario is set up. So, if you were to live to be 120 and you give up 20 years, you're only giving up the time that would be spent forgetting things and shitting yourself...not giving up too much. Of course, most people live to be about 75...which really isn't too bad living. We'll assume you'll be in good health and the latter years of your life won't be too bad.

Personally, I'd give up 10 years of life so that the rest of the planet can have cheese. How about you?

Ten years is a helluva long time to sacrifice just so people can have cheese.

I'd say one year at the very most for people to have cheese. Sure, cheese is great. But I'd much rather have my life on Earth, even if it meant without any cheese on the planet. One year though, I could give that up.

This thread is amazing though Orgazmo. We should do a ton of these related to a bunch of other things (TV, Sex-Drive for males, legal downloading of music, alcohol, etc.).

Yes, 10 years is a lot...but there are over 6 billion people on the planet. That means I'm giving up .05256 seconds of my life for each person to be able to eat cheese. Only .05256/person. I thought I was being greedy by only saying 10 years. It's cheese...

Ouch, it all depends on what I would have accomplished first... pending a few big things though, 10 years sounds good.

I would give up a whole probably 2 or 3 years.

I was going to say I'd only give up 10 seconds, b/c I fucking hate cheese in solid form. Then I got to thinking...pizza, nacho cheese, chesse for breadsticks, and then I realized that cheese is very important to this world.

I'd go with the whole under 5 years thing.

And I didn't understand one thing. In this scenario, do you know when you're going to die? I reread it, but really couldn't pick it up. Maybe it's just cause I feel like I'd need to hibernate to catch up on sleep....

Anyway, what if you decided to give up 2 to 3 years of your life, but you only had 2 to 3 years of your life left? I wouldn't be willing to give up my last 2 to 3 years. However, if I was going to live to be over 70, of course I'd be willing to give up those 2 to 3 years.

But then again....I'd give the world pizza again....tough question, wonderful thread.

You don't know when you're going to die when you answer the question...but someone knows when you die...because they make you die however much time you say earlier than you were supposed to...if that makes sense.

That is unless I could benefit from my sacrifice option. Who knows? Maybe Bill Gates loves cheese like no other and would give me all his money. I would just enjoy myself for a number of years and will all the money to friends and family for when I died. I would make it well known that when I died, cheese would return to earth. Immediately following my death, I would be written into all the history books as the man who brought the cheese. So in closing, if I could benefit from my sacrifice in such a manner, I would give up 2 days of my life.
