My play by play from memory.
Round 1. Come out, circle, frank taking the standup with two or three good low kicks and a good jab, nothing special. Renzo closes distance, clinches, both fighters have an over/under clinch Frank starts rabbit punching Renzo to the back of head and is warned. Renzo hooks a leg, takedown into halfguard. Renzo passes into sidemount. Frank starts throwing knees and punches from bottom sidemount, seeming content, as if these are somehow a viable way to win a fight. After a while, the fight is somehow stood up with Renzo having isolated an arm and in sidemount. Another takedown and more of frank kneeing from bottom sidemount. Round clearly Gracies. Round 2. Another good 30 seconds standing from Frank, leg kick or two and a good straight right. Renzo lands a respectable punch for Renzo. Takedown by Renzo, sidemount, knees from Frank. Renzo moves into a north-south / sidemount mix somewhat. Frank continues with knees, but this time he is aiming for Renzo's head (illegal, and had knees to the head of a downed opponent been legal, Frank is dead in the first 2min) hits Renzo's head once and neck once. Fight is stopped. Frank acts like he won, Herb Dean is having none of it and takes a point away. Renzo is clearly concussed and after a few min the fight is called. Frank acts like a cunt, spewing off at the mouth things such as "I'm old school" - fuck you frank, if this was vale tudo Renzo would have ate your face off in the first 2 min. "I didnt break a sweat" - because you were dominated and you could do nothing about it "I broke the new rules I guess" - the rule has been in place since 2000, you have 30 pro mma fights, those knees were legal in 7 of them at most. "My first loss in 10 years" - with your last meaningful fight 8 years ago. Other than the abortion that is Frank Shamrock, the card went great. Krazy Horse knocked the shit out of KJ Noons. Joe Villasenor looked great in winning all 3 rounds against Loiseau, taking him down at will and winning the standup with solid basic boxing. Antonio Silva looked good at 298lbs and threw a flying knee into Cabbages head then pounded him into a tko. |

A local chiropractor here in warsaw corners Lawlor and Tim Sylvia.
He's done work on Matt Hughes too but doesn't get to corner his fights. If you watch the Lawlor fight I can point him out to you in the corner. So beebs play Dana White for a second who does Wanderlei fight next? I vote Tito. |

Tito is a good choice, but a dangerous one. Wandy NEEDS a win, and Tito's style is perfect to thwart Silva's. I'd like to see him get a rematch with Vitor personally. I also think he should drop down to 185.

Wandy vs Jardine seems like a good choice, either gets Jardine a legit claim to a title shot or gets Wandy back in the mix.
You're outta your mind if you think Frank doesn't end up on a stretcher against Lawler. Frank can't wrestle at all anymore, and if he keeps playing this "im a striker now" game with Lawler its gonna be ugly. |

I think you're underestimating what a monster he has become since leaving the UFC.
He showed the first signs of being a new fighter in the first two rounds of the Mayhem fight, then starched Villasenor like nobodies business, then actually used strategy to go with his god given ability for once against Trigg, who is a top 10 185er right now I think, and just recently beat up Ninja in every aspect, just beat on him like a child. Robbie can wrestle and has good damaging slams too, often overlooked. I've got him behind only Silva, Hendo, and Lindland at 185 in the world. You could make a case for Franklin being higher, and you could have made one for Akiyama before he got daddied by Misaki. |

You might be right. I haven't seen much of Lawler lately. I just always remember him as a heavy handed brawler with low fight I.Q. I'll check out some of his more recent fights and get back to you.

Which "Chuck thing"? Chuck beating Wandy or Chuck losing to Jardine?
And on a related note, I could watch Chuck fight Wandy every night for the rest of my life and not get bored of it. As far as Lawler goes, he's matured into a more patient fighter, the best way I can describe his style is a Jens Pulver with more power and less technique, or an Igor with less power and more technique. Also a little bit like a young Rampage, some formal wrestling but not much, but insane strength and very good adaptation of wrestling to MMA. I do suppose Frank has an outside chance if Robbie punches himself out, at which point he becomes possible to make a grappling mistake while in a dominant position, which is a strong point of Frank. I just don't think Lawler will wear out after watching him go into the 5th with Trigg and into the 3rd with Ninja before brutalizing them. |
