New Orleans awful mayor Ray Nagin is going to run for governor. I was floored to see him re-elected after his bunkering tactics for days following Katrina and vow to never visit that state if they elect him governor.

Louisiana is such a god awful state. They had the head of the KKK in their state senate for a while - and damn near elected him governor. They withheld Louisiana State Income Tax when I cashed in a poker tournament there once. Even though I had a Texas DL and was questioning managers why the hell they'd withhold taxes for an out of state resident, they stuck with their "the law is the law, son" mentality and told me I'd have to wait 9 months and file a claim to get the money back.

The interest that money could be earning in the market alone was enough to pay for an extra night in New Orleans.

And btw: I thought N.O. was a pretty fuckin' cool city. Cool in that European "wouldn't mind spending 5 nights a year there" type of cool. I'd kill myself if I had to live there.
