Ended up voting for gary johnson. i know it wont matter. but i hope he gets enough votes that the other assclowns get the hint that "none of the above" was the better option for (hopefully) a good chunk of the voting population.

Non-voter again this year.
It was the closest I came to voting this year. But I just couldn't bring myself to vote for a toolbag or a lazy black man who never gets anything done and doesn't prepare for a debate because he so complacent on getting by with doing as little as he can do. Part of me hopes Romney wins so we at least get a hard worker in office, but I didn't vote for him because of the guilt I would feel for supporting backwards social policies. If he wins its win-win for me emotionally and in my pocketbook. |

I support Gary Johnson but voted for Mitt Romney. In Indiana it really doesn't matter because it's a shew in for Republicans but I took that same thought to the poll in 08' and we paid.
I'm already putting money away in the anticipation of shelling out more to the feds. I hope President Obama enjoys his millions post Presidency because the minority knows he didn't work for it. |

However, they're the lowest they've ever been in my lifetime and I've got 20 years on you. So, it's probably inevitable that they'll go back up. They'll most likely have to in order to fix this shit. It was only 12 years ago Bush and Gore were arguing over what to do with the surplus. It is naive to think that the powers set forth in Article II really extend to your deep fears. Homebody can't do jackshit without help from those with Article I power.

I'm willing to bet that the majority of people who voted for him don't know a single thing about him, and don't care. No one thought he was going to be president, but voting for him was a form of protest against the two-party system. Maybe even 80% of his votes came from this? No idea. Not even saying there's anything wrong with that, because it is an effective form of protest. But for the most part, I wouldn't consider his votes "votes".

But at the same time I knew he had no shot and it was a protest in that sense. It absolutely was a none of the above in that sense. However, let's say Ron Paul, got the nomination for libertarian. I wouldn't want my throwaway vote confused as supporting Paul. Then I would have to go with a write in or whoever that chick was at the bottom of the selection. A few days later I don't think a lot of the Republican pundits get it. They've completely pushed large groups of people away by being anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-mexican, anti-weed smokers, anti-birth control, etc. Just stay the fuck away from social and moral issues altogether. Don't touch them. Stay out of people's private lives. Quit creating a "creator vs. taker" mentality. It's the kid with the flame thrower standing around wondering why everything is on fire. 18 months ago on the local level all I heard was bullshit about natural born citizens and Obama isn't eligible and so on while he's fucking going on 3 years into the term. Anybody who suggested it was time to move on, was told not to let the door hit them in the ass. Now they lose the big general election and they still don't know why. One minute after going on about how Ronnie should be on Rushmore, the castigate a guy who isn't anti union enough to be judge. What the fuck does giving a shit about unions have to do with being a judge? Those judges who deal with such matters are appointed and not elected. Reagan couldn't get the nomination this year. When they ran off fiscal conservatives who fall on the libertarian side of moral and social issues, they had a problem. A few years ago you had some of that tea party shiznit on the local level. Now I suspect folks just stayed the fuck away. I get that most pundits are at first entertainers. Their job is to come up with something to bitch about for a few hours a day, every day. It's old, it's tiresome. Unfortunately, those who don't know that wresting is fake, think this real also. They also probably think that the SEC conference winner would easily make the playoffs in the NFL and maybe a deep run as well.

I supported Johnson, because not only did/do I agree with him in an insane number of ways, but he doesn't dodge questions for political rhetoric. He's not afraid of stating his opinions. I like this and support this. This explains my support for Johnson and Paul from day one when they were running for GOP bid.
For the record, this thread is a great read from page 1, 2+ years after the op. |

he'll go down as one of the better ones.
i also believe our nation will look back and be ashamed at how much he had to put up with. |

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.
