We need a thread specifically for any and all discussion of the #Occupy movements since it's pretty clear that it's not going away. I liked this article analyzing (in a positive light, ftr) some of the things you might say the movement is achieving.

Are you talking about driving my Jeep in England?

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.

Occupy stuff is dumb. It's a hodgepodge of people with nothing to say except that their pissed off. About anything, it doesn't really matter. They're not even really trying to accomplish anything, they're just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Everyone of those little signs looked like a beef with the federal government, not really corporations or "Wall Street". The arguments that weren't were so stupid and childish that they don't warrant much of a response.

In what seemed like a very slow start to tonight's South Park episode, the occupy episode really picked up in the final 10 minutes.
In other news, it's odd seeing Blonde actually try to occupy (troll) me. |

And what does all of that have to do with the New York Stock Exchange?

"Occupy Wall Street is not simply about Congressional financial reform, but also about corporate greed and basic business ethics. Marching in front of Congress is a generic form of protest, while portraying levels of civil disobedience this way gets far more attention nation and world-wide. Washington D.C. has its own Occupy section, but the point is that this movement is meant to not only spur politicians into action, but also drive at the heart of corruption in all major business areas. The terrible actions that destroyed a majority of the U.S. economy (with no help from Bush's low taxes and two wars) and world economy cannot be tolerated. Those that caused this meltdown need to be identified as do any politicians that have hid/defended/or excused these individuals. This movement means more than simply unemployment or financial reform."

So you agree they might as well have been marching on the Auto Industry in Detroit as the New York Stock Exchange then?
