At an atrocious ratio of less than 3.5:1, this thread takes the cake for worst views:replies. God I had this thread.
|
It's not a viable statistic for threads older than the age of vBulletin on nubblies as views weren't counted in the old forum version. In other words, there were already X amounts of replies in this thread when the forum was migrated to vBulletin; however, at that time there were 0 views (simply because it wasn't tracked).

Dropping Out of School is a pretty good tune. |

I listen to everything people post on here and for the most part don't comment if it sucks or not. For being a musical elitist you sure aren't very open minded, f3lix. |
Blonde, that was very closed minded and elitist of you to think those are my feelings about this thread. I posted what I did because I hate seeing this thread consistently show up in my "new posts" clicking.
As far as what I have provided to this thread, yes, it is mostly classical. Why? Because it's what I know best. Just because it doesn't contain lyrics doesn't make it bad. It's actually far better than most of the shit you've suggested. I'm open-minded as it comes when music is involved, whether I like it or not. I don't put bias on certain types of music, because, as a conductor, I must accept it all. Why don't you chill out and read posts instead of reacting like Repug and put your Emo-juice away. |

You're right, because my post was clearly emo. I slit my wrists and dyed my hair black at the exact same time I was writing it. Good descriptive term, F3lix. I never said your music was bad. I said it was gay. However, of course you think your music is better than most of what I suggest; you're a fucking conductor. I'm sure there are a bunch of normal people who like my music and a bunch of old or dead guys who likes yours. Lets agree to disagree. |
Liking one over the other is quite different than one being better than the other

What makes one thing better or worse than another? Technical skill? I hate when musicians pull this shit... Just because it's harder to play doesn't mean it's better. Speed metal would be held in a much higher regard if that were true.

were you drinking ;)
dont get me wrong i'm not trying to hate on them, they don't speed up their music but they do play only tiny bits at the studio and can't recreate or play constantly that fast live. I like they're stuff: YTMND - I love bell peppers! but they kind of suck live |

No, No, Nononononono, don't get me wrong, I didn't realize you said you didn't care for them in the first place.
Yea, they suck. |
I never said anything about technicality making something better (I enjoy Dragonforce, btw.) What I'm saying is that most popular music appeals to the majority (hence its popularity) because it is easy to listen to and lacks musical elements which are common in masterworks. What gets each of our rocks off is very likely to be different music, I just personally feel that when you put great composers/arrangers in a stage where they can shine to the masses, you will see what I mean. The closest medium for this happening is in film scores for popular movies.

I really don't think a lot of what is posted here is "popular". At all.

I knew that sounded familiar from somewhere. I still can't believe that asshole with the modified drum kit thing can play that on guitar hero.

I just found out about this band today, named Owl City. I really don't see it being many of your guys' style at all, but i'm in love with it. It's very electronica/powerpoppish, which happens to be my pussy-ass weakness when it comes to music. Everyone who i've ever talked to about them thinks its Ben Gibbard of the Postal Service, or that it IS the Postal Service. Anyways, this is my favorite song of his right now.
EDIT: I'm sure this guy can't deny his influence from Ben Gibbard, as theres actually a lyric in the song: 'cause your heart has a lack of color/and we should have known |
