Hes got rainbows in his veins.

Mr. Blonde 12-19-2008 09:41 PM

I'm shocked with surprisal. Oh, wait, no, I called it when I made the post.

DDTempest 12-19-2008 09:46 PM

I just think you need to see a doctor is all. You might have E.M.O.

Repugnant Abomination 12-20-2008 04:28 AM

The Black Keys FUCKING RULE. "Rubber Factory" was huge for me back in college.

That being said, your previous post wasn't that terrible. Clearly an electropop Gibbard knockoff, but pretty decent. At least you're exploring new music....

Mr. Blonde 12-21-2008 12:30 AM

If you look back in the DLotD thread a few paged, you'll see that only a few member really post regularly. I suspect the rest of them either listen to shitty music and are too cowardly to post it or simply don't enjoy music at all.

Pliedes 12-21-2008 01:27 AM

That may be true. Then again, I don't think (or like to think) that I fall into any of those categories.

So I'll contribute.

My favorite song ever, the one I want played at my funeral (whilst everyone unknowingly trips on acid, thanks to the punch ;) ) is....

MONO - Yearning

I used to not even check this thread when it was posted in, I don't know when I began to look again or for what reason.

gud. very much like explosions on the sky or mogwai.

Mr. Blonde 12-26-2008 08:38 PM

Fleet Foxes - Mykonos

Vampire Weekend (i thought i recommended this a while ago..guess not) - A-Punk

SIDENOTE: Imeem was good for a while, but now since i've had to register an account as well as when i do a simple google search and the main directory after imeem is /people/, those ones don't come up into their own players on here. So its getting hard as fuck to find the right link for a song that will have the player embed on nubblies automatically. Ghey.

I love post-rock, but where Explosions is too rock based and reliant on delay/reverb, and Mogwai noodles like phish....MONO just writes good songs. Their sense of melody and ability to convey emotion is untouched by most any band on the planet. Sigur Ros has a similar capacity, but is much more hit and miss.

See "One More Step and You Die" by MONO. One of the greatest albums ever made.

On a side note, its great music for both tripping and sexing. Seriously.

This is the IMEEM Page:

Thanks..

lolz......for future reference for anyone else :)

In case anyone doesn't realize what happened, I went to page, it gave me a link to embed, and it ends up shit on the post. Then I copied the link to the imeem page...and it auto-did it. Imeem is cool btw, thanks for recommendation Gaz. Have found about 70% of songs I've tried looking up I think.

i rarely listen to others posts...do sometimes...but most of the time not.

Where do other people stand on this?

I can say for sure--I'd never take the time to actually download the song..unless multiple people were going crazy about the song or something.

I would suggest that people post a stream from either YouTube, or Imeem (or if there is another service someone knows of).. I mean normally I wouldn't even follow a direct link. It's not very hard to do. Like Orgazmo said, google "Imeem song name". A lot of the times YouTube will have it too. Either the actual music video, or the song with just a static image that someone has thrown up there...

Anyone else agree?

THEINCREDIBLEdork 01-03-2009 02:02 AM

i never look up the music w/o a hyperlink

i've been including links for over a year now, and most others do the same. What exactly is this post for if you're addressing something that is already common?

If you really must know.

Whoever I just quoted didn't include link or stream...(he edited post after I made mine).

And also...said I think it would be good idea to include the stream on the page..instead of a link..since it's not that hard to do. I thought it was worth bringing up...and at least one person so far has made this wonderfully positive change.

If you go back three pages, you can see that most of the stuff you personally have posted are links. I personally don't even take the time to follow them, unless another person has commented saying its a good song.

[edit again]

Actually...if you look in the past...there are quite a few posts that don't include links or streams. So thats why I felt the need to make the post Blonde. Why did you feel the need to make yours ...honestly? :\ So fighty and nit picky with me. Just trying to make a positive change for the thread so maybe more people look at it. Let's not derail into insanity here off of what I've said please. Not trying to start a fight.

See page 101 for example. You do not include links, or streams and it's definitely not more than a year ago.

Mr. Blonde 01-03-2009 10:48 AM

Sorry, I was drunk and didn't see that SittinonDubs edited his post to add a link after you quoted him.

Normally wouldn't quote someone for doing something like this. But just to show you how stupid it is...

Now there are at least two posts on this page that no one cares about, and I'm sure would of rather not had to have read and wasted time out of their life that they will never get back.

bravo DDTempest. /clap /clap

Honestly people, it's a message board. If you can understand what it means, then why do you need to nit pick at it? If you are an English teacher...then yea, go ahead, because then it is *sort of* funny...because a teacher is doing it. Otherwise it's just being pretty lame, imho.

ninjaface 01-04-2009 08:52 PM

Only english teachers can point out spelling/grammar mistakes? So does that mean all mistakes can only be pointed out by teachers of that respective discipline? So I guess if I call you a fucking retard you can't say shit about it because you aren't a sex ed and special ed teacher. I'm on board.

ninjaface 01-05-2009 08:16 PM
