Well before any of you do, hold off, I may need somebody to gift it to me. My Credit card and paypal aren't working, i sent in a support ticket to see if they can help me, but if they say I can't buy it overseas, if you buy 2 copies (one for you, one for a friend), you get a $10 discount.

That's the allure of this particular game. They've tried a lot of random shit in the past few years, but this one is completely going back to the simple fighting roots. No worlds involved. No walking around solving shit. No 3d. None of it. Just flat ass fighting with the folks that we all grew up loving.

Shit, I forgot they pushed the release to today (tuesdays are release days). It was originally going to come out on Friday. We've had the game in the store for a week and a half now, i just never got around to bringing it home, which fucking sucks, because now I'll have to pay for it (half price, but still gay).

And yes, Portal 2 is a better choice than Mortal Kombat. One is a challenging game that requires some thought to get through, the other is just an updated Tekken/Street Fighter/typical fighting game that will get old fast.

Hopefully I'm wrong about the new Mortal Kombat, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

The trailer for MK looks basically like a super beefed up version of the original game. Better graphics, better fatalities, etc. It looks pretty good to me.

Scorpion and Sub Zero are my original favorites, Reptile gets an honorable mention, and Smoke was awesome in the later games. I also like calling girls with busted teeth, "Baraka," when the situation is appropriate. This is pretty sweet too:

Stop loving on Marvel vs Capcom. The Mortal Kombat franchise cannot be beaten when it sticks to its tried and true formula. Purchasing another fighting game would be wasting your money.

I was amazed that there was a story line. And not just one that they throw in between the fights, it was a for realz story line where you had to walk around and fight off multiple super shitty opponents like Double Dragon or something. So gay.

Can Wolverine, Captain America, and Magneto fight in a triple tag team match against Ryu, M. Bison, and Mega Man in Mortal Kombat? I didn't think so.

Listen, Sub Zero's freeze and Scorpion's spear are the same move. They're both moves that just stun the opponent with the follow up's being the same as well.

spear/freeze, dash, generic combo, spear/freeze, generic uppercut. You'll find that most MK characters play very similar to that formula.
