Could have been phrased better, but what he means to say is obviously correct. In this current time period, for example, people who happen to have certain natural skills and education in the area of finance are shined upon by society. This has not always been the case throughout history, at least with such a large number of people working in finance or economics (throughout history these positions were obviously filled by the elite)
Always goes back to the social contract, people who have had certain luck in genetics, upbringing, random chance meetings that motivated them to choose this path or that path, et cetera. Wealthy people particularly like to fawn all over themselves RE: "I worked hard to get here" when they actually have never worked nearly as hard as many poor, undereducated farmers, industrial workers, etc. have. Oh sure, maybe they spent a few summers in high school and college doing hard labor. Please. P.S. I just imagined FC being some jewey merchant in Mesopotamia. Highly doubt that's how it would have gone down; could definitely see him rising to be some kind of holy priest though. |

Oh yeah Obama is so fucking right. Because when you start a business and are barely able to make payroll, the government will come in and feed your family for you since you're not getting fucking paid. And if you mess up on your taxes, the government won't send an auditor out to fuck your operations up and slap you with penalties and interest. The government does so much for business owners that they should literally just give them 90% of their profits. After all, the government did all the work.
I don't agree with a single word that piece of shit said. |

I think the thing being completely left out here is that when people "do things for one another" it's not out of charity but out of mutually beneficial exchange. For example:
Student is inspired by a great professor to create a new tech firm that completely kills it. Obama says that student didn't create the tech firm, that everybody did. That the student was given the inspiration by the professor. But Obama forgets that the student paid tuition to talk to that professor and that the professors interests were not in charity but in profit. And if they weren't in profit they were for some sort of advertising. So the student who created the tech firm paid for this. If his inspiration was publicly available and the student was the only one who took the inspiration to create the tech firm then he truly was smarter than everybody else. So Either: The student did indeed pay his way to this success or He was smarter than everybody else. |

How about this:
The student went through the k-12 public education system that was paid for by everyone's taxes, even people who didn't have children. That public education is what enabled him to go to college in the first place. The problem with all of this is everyone oversimplifies the guy whose position they don't like, be it Bain outsourcing jobs, or Obama pointing out that everyone contributes to the system that people can thrive in. |

How about we ask people to pay for k-12 then?
Oh wait we already do and its not expensive. Obama is asking for a lot more. With a broad wave of his hand he dismisses the 13 trillion dollars worth of value that is created in the us every year through knowledge, hard work, and trade. That 13 trillion didn't create itself. People made it. And its nearly always made through mutually beneficial exchange not charity. |

Obama was saying that as a means to justify taxing business owners and corporations even more. How the fuck is that not obvious, and how did my rant not make sense.
To clarify, I'm being rhetorical, not actually asking you. |

Ever since Obama, it's all "He's not even REALLY black!!!". 90% of the "black" people you know have white blood in them, you ever seen an actual fucking African? Just in case, visit your local Wal-Mart at around 12AM and you'll see folks with skin darker than the Nubblies background.

YOU WENT TO CRANBROOK, THAT'S A PRIVATE SCHOOL WHAT'S THE MATTER DAWG, YOU EMBARRASSED? THIS GUYS A GANGSTER, HIS REAL NAME'S CLARENCE AND CLARENCE LIVES AT HOME WITH BOTH PARENTS AND CLARENCE'S PARENTS HAVE A REAL GOOD MARRIAGE To answer your question though, they very likely didn't foot the bill for private school/college themselves. In this case, it would lie on the social benefits that allowed their parents to earn the money and have the opportunities they did to be able to afford to send their kid to private everything.

The thought that the liberal agenda breaks down to claiming that every person was helped by resources of other people (they'll imply it's the government) is hilarious because everything the government provides is paid for by the tax dollars of its citizens. The government has no money - it belongs to all of us, regardless of what Repug will try to claim.

And no, he's not dismissing personal initiative or hard work, he's merely pointing out that we all benefit from the American system that we all as tax payers contribute to. Quote:

Honestly, you guys are ridiculous. Obama isn't raising taxes, he's letting tax breaks expire. The republicans are being cunty by trying to make them permanent when they never were meant to be. People seem to forget this economy crashed under Bush's watch when he deregulated the financial system to the point that it collapsed from its own excesses. That said, Obama never understood business, hasn't done enough to fix the economy (even though I do think it could have been a lot worse), and I'm not sure if he's ever going to get it. It's worrisome.
