They didn't pay, but we came up with a settlement that worked for both parties. The dreaded 100 dollar bracket challenge in March. It's pretty obvious that the first bet was a sucker bet, and this one makes it a little more fair. I should still win.

That sounds like a terrible solution. Why did they take the initial bet if it was obviously a sucker's bet? Are they suckers? Do you teach suckers not to be suckers by letting them off the hook? Or do you hold their feet to the god damned flame?

Letting them off like this isn't teaching them anything. Let's say the next sucker bet they book is with a guy who isn't so kind. The kind of guy who breaks legs and rapes girlfriends. Now that's partially on you for not teaching them a lesson with this incident.

Haha, I think that is a bit extreme. I'm sure if they bet someone that did all of that, they would pay up.

I think you've set a terrible precedent. Why should they pay you if they lose this bet?

I guess the flipside is that you don't have to pay them if you lose. So this really isn't a bet at all. It's a non-bet bet.

I pay, it just takes me time to pay it. I save 5 dollars a week, and pay it off.
