I'm pulling for Detroit all fucking day. The Sharks tend to play good against LA so I'm thinking Sharks in 6. We also play good against Detroit. I like SJ's chances against either team and am much more apprehensive about Chicago. Hopefully Detroit will do our dirty work.

I was offered tickets to Game 6, @Detroit. By the time I convinced my wife to let me go, guy had sold them. Last row in the lower bowl, just left of mid ice. Looks like saving the cash was a good idea. I don't think this goes to a game 6. Hawks look mentally beat last night. The Wings have controlled play in all but 2 periods in this series.

Yeah the Wings looked like shit and Howard is killing it. The Sharks are in a very similar boat against the Kings. They played like ass yesterday too, and Quick picked up a shutout. I'm a little nervous about Sunday. Watching a team get put out of the playoffs is kind of depressing to watch on TV, even when it's just some neutral team. If I have to experience it in San Jose, I might kill the next LA fan I come across.

Huge game tonight. I really hope the Hawks come out skating hard and bury an early one. If they don't score early, they are finished. They have to solve Howard. I've seen Howard implode, but right now, they can't beat him. Hawks 3-2 in OT.
Got an email from the guy with the tickets. Apparently, the buyer balked and now he's trying to get me to snag them. Already made plans with work and a baseball game with the little guy, so I'm having to turn him down. Very difficult to do, but tough decisions come with age I guess. |

Pet peeve: people saying "us" or "we" when discussing a sports team. I can't think of an exception to when that seems acceptable unless you are actually on that team or employed within the organization.
(Not shitting on you personally IM, lots of people do this and I know sports provide a sense of communal "we're in this together"-ness but really, you're not). |

I had a co-worker that did this worse then anyone I have ever seen. I always hit him with the ole " How many minutes you think you will get." Or "How many points did you score." They got me last year, they won't get me this year. (OSU vs Michigan) Having said that, GAME FUCKING 7 WEDNESDAY DAY NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you see last nights game? The most lopsided 2-1 win I've ever seen. Hawks controlled the play from start to finish. I thought tonight would be that game where the travel and back to back takes a toll. I couldn't believe how physical the Hawks were the first 2 periods. Very impressive.

They might have given the blueprint, but they don't have the horses to use it against the Hawks. This is a matchup nightmare for the Kings. Quick is amazing, and the Hawks beat him 4 times last night. Not because he's a bad goalie, but because the Kings lack team speed to cover.
Everyone talked about how physical the Kings are, but the Hawks have out physical'd them for 6 periods this weekend. The Kings are a mash unit heading home. 2 of their best performers in game 1, couldn't play last night due to injuries off big hits. I'm sticking to my Hawks in 5, because Quick will steal one this week. I'm guessing game 3. Regardless, the passing is back for a Hawks squad that struggled through the first 4 games of the Wings series. With passing comes goals, and the Hawks can score a lot of them when the passing in and out of the zone is this crisp. |

The Kings played the best they can play vs. the Hawks last night IMO, and really only won a 2-1 game. They are fast on home ice, but I think the Hawks will adjust well. Quick was amazing last night. 19 shots on goal my ass. Home cooking on the shot category as the Hawks peppered him a ton in the third alone.
Duncan Keith has a disciplinary meeting in regards to his slash to the face of Jeff Carter at 1:30. I've yet to hear what has happened, but I think the league suspends him 4 games, he appeals and gets 2. It was unintentional, but at the same time, you are responsible for the actions of your stick. It could be more games, depending on how hard shanny wants to come down on him. Tomorrow nights game becomes a lot more interesting having to bump up guys on the blue line. Hjalmerson has to be feeling the block shot he took this morning. Oduya didn't play his best game of the series last night, and now he has to step up into a bigger role. |

Welp, that's 2-2 in the last 2 series. Cocktooth on a roll predicting the Hawks series winner and games. Let's see what comes about this series. Hawks vs. Bruins- For Lord Stanley What a series this is going to be. 2 of the original 6 do battle for the biggest prize in sports, IMO. I don't see this series going to 7 games, but it very well could if everyone holds serve. Let's match up the two, and see how this shakes out. Scoring: In a series that from the outside looks like it will be low scoring, I have a slightly different take. The Bruins thrive in a physical, no space below the blue line kind of defense. With Crosby, that worked extremely well. I don't think it will work as well with Toews. The Redwings tried it, and it worked for 3 games, but Toews seems to know what to expect at this point. Add in the physicality of Bickell playing with Kane on the 2nd line, and I think the Hawks will get oppurtunities to score. Will Rask stand on his head all series long? The Penguins got very few quality scoring chances. The Hawks passing alone will lead to 5 or 6 quality scoring chances per game. As for the Bruins, I think Tyler Seguin is the biggest question mark in terms of scoring. Which Seguin is going to show up? He reminds me a lot of Patrick Kane the last 2 years. You never knew which Kane was going to show up. Marchand will get his and so will Bergeron. They can score, but are they going to be able to get the odd man rushes that they dominated vs. the Penguins. I think in terms over overall scoring, top to bottom, the Hawks take this category. Defense: Big and physical is the blueprint to the success of the Bruins defense, and once again, that will be on the forefront of this battle. Milan Lucic is nasty and will control in front of the net, and clear a path for Rask. Is Bickell going to be able to get in and snag an ugly goal early in the series? The Hawks 3rd line defense has shown signs of vulnerability, but they have shown flashes of brilliance in the 3-1 come back vs. the Red Wings. I think the lights are a bit to bright for Leddy and Rozival and expect them to give up a couple goals in the first couple of games. Seabrook and Keith will get all the ice time they can handle in this series. Advantage- Bruins. Goaltending: Both net minders have been terrific this post season. As great as they have been, they both have had moments that make you shake your head. It's going to take 4 games of quality tending in order to win this series. I think Rask is going to get bombarded with shots, and I think he folds. I don't think the Bruins are going to get the puck in quality scoring areas, and get the puck on Crawford. Advantage: Hawks Special Teams: Both special teams have struggled through the playoffs in regards to the Power Play. I think there will be quite a few penalties, especially in the first 3 games. Lucic often has issues with taking bad penalties when clearing out the front of the net. If the Hawks start converting on the PP, this could be a great sign for them going forward. As of now though, I don't see any clear advantage between the 2 teams. Advantage : Push Overall: Both teams are battle tested, and have hoisted the cup in the last 3 years. It's going to come down to if the Hawks can handle the physical presence of the Bruins, and if the Bruins can handle the speed of the Hawks. I think the Hawks have experienced plenty of physical play this post season, and will be ready to battle. I don't think the 3 and 4th lines of Boston can run and gun with the Hawks 3rd and 4th line. I think that is the difference in the series. Prediction: Hawks in 6 Interesting note: Coach Joel Quineville has decided to dress Brandon Bollig for the first time this post season. Bollig is what is the hybrid "enforcer" for the Hawks and also a big body. He will see minimal minutes, but should provide the Hawks with some physical play. Rumors are that Dan Carcillo is back in the lineup as well. While one enforcer is good, Carcillo takes awful penalties at bad times. The message is being sent by Q though. He's not going to plan on playing the passive dump and chase with your stars. He's going to put a team on the ice ready to grind!
